The composer Rudolf Kelterborn about his work: ?I call the ten compositions for female voice and piano ?DUOS? because the voice and instrument parts are treated musically with absolute equality and indeed often go their own independent ways.
In the vocal part there are several variants, and this makes them accessible for different types of voice.
The 10 duos do not form a complete cycle that can be heard only as an entire work. Smaller groups can be put together and presented according to text-related or musical aspects.
The texts are by authors who have continued to inspire me for years.?

This short, highly compact song is based on an excerpt from a poem by Philipp Lu...(+)
This short, highly compact song is based on an excerpt from a poem by Philipp Luidl. Thanks to the narrow ambitus of the vocal part, it is suitable for every vocal register. The piano part is strictly bound to the musical text, whereas the vocal part, though precisely notated, is granted almost unlimited leeway in performance. Almost anything is permitted, from traditional song interpretation to uninhibited Sprechgesang in which even pitches can be redefined. The imagery of the poem - a stone constantly rolled back by the sea - gives rise to music of great flexibility. Piano and voice complement each other while preserving their independence. / Chant Et Piano

Verdi, Giuseppe Messa da Requiem In this new scholarly-critical edition of the “Messa da Requiem”, the editor, on the basis of all available sources, succeeds in presenting practical suggestions to solve musical problems and those concerning the interpretation of this famous work. A hitherto unexamined handwritten reduction for voice and piano casts a new light on the evaluation of several known sources and leads to new philological and editorial decisions. This edition presents a detailed Critical Commentary as well as a preface on the genesis and history of the work. Par FIBICH ZDENEK. The Czech composer Zdenek Fibich (1850–1900) had a keen interest in classical German literature. It therefore comes as no surprise that he had already set songs to texts by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe while still a student at the Leipzig Conservatory. Between 1865 and 1871 he composed 16 songs on texts by this famous German author for voice and piano. Ten of them have survived: the song “An den Mond”, dating from 1869, and nine further songs from Goethe’s novel “Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre” were composed immediately after Fibich’s return to Prague in 1871. All ten now appear here in a single-volume Urtext edition edited by Barbora Kubecková. / Niveau : 4 / Répertoire / Vocal et Piano

Mozart's lieder reveal him to be a dramatist in miniature. Even if he failed to cultivate this genre systematically he nevertheless directed his creative powers toward the lied at all stages of his career. His first effort (now lost) was written at the age of six or seven and he took up the genre again and again at irregular intervals down to the final year of his life. None the less Mozart usually chose to write a lied only when there was a special occasion for doing so. Even the preface to the firt complete edition of his lieder published in 1799 by Breitkopf

For many, the title will awaken memories of the demonstrations against the clearance of the Flörsheim Forest to allow for a new runway at the Frankfurt Airport. Both the poem, which extends beyond this local incident to remind us of the seriousness of our global situation, and the music join together to form an expressive, universally valid call for the conservation of our core values, our future together: 'Die Erde jedoch wird sich wehren. Sie wird uns, am Ende, nichts mehr geben als den Staub, in dem wir aufgehn.? (The earth, however, will resist. She will, in the end, not give us any more than dust, into which we will submerge.) It is up to us, to prevent the situation from advancing so far: 'Wir, die wir zu ihren Schülern wurden, sollten die Lehre der Bäume verbreiten.?
