Ses ?uvres pour piano sont peu nombreuses et peu significatives du point de vue de la forme du contenu et du caract?re. Il existe toutefois une exception: ses ?Jeux d?enfants? pour piano ? quatre mains compos?s en 1871 suite libre de douze pi?ces de genre courtes mais particuli?rement marquantes qui constituent un charmant petit chef-d??uvre. Avec une sobri?t? et une simplicit? empreintes d?esprit fran?ais il cr?e dans chacune de ces miniatures une atmosph?re unique et incomparable. L??criture et les moyens harmoniques utilis?s anticipent d?j? Ravel et Debussy! Certaines deces audaces furent pourtant malheureusement gomm?es au moment de la premi?re ?dition de 1872. C?est pourquoi il est d?autant plus important que notre ?dition urtext tienne ?galement compte du manuscrit autographe de Bizet. In the audience was the 17-year-old Hungarian violin virtuoso and budding composer Jenö Hubay. After the performance Hubay started writing his Carmen Fantasy from memory. The following season for his debut recital in Paris, he included his newly created composition. It is a lyrical work of great beauty and brilliance. Hubay combined his career of a concertizing virtuoso, composer and violin pedagogue. At the Royal Conservatory in Brussels he became the successor of Vieuxtemps and Wieniawski. Later, Franz Liszt invited Hubay to lead the violin department in the newly created Budapest Music Academy. He created the world-renowned Hungarian school of violin playing. His student, Franz von Vecsey, recorded theCarmen Fantasy in 1904 at age 11! His other students included Joseph Szigeti, Zoltán Szekely, Sándor Végh, Endre Gertler, György Garay and many more. Hubay was a very active composer, creating over 120 works including operas, ballets, concertos, songs and instrumental compositions. Pablo de Sarasate wrote his Carmen Fantasy in 1882. It is a composition of drama and passion, written with his unparalleled brilliance for violin writing. The great talent of Cécile Chaminade (1857-1944) showed very early: At the age of 12, she published her first composition. Georges Bizet, a friend of the family, predicted her great future. After her successful debut as a pianist in Paris in 1877, she began busy concert activities as a solo pianist, chamber musician and conductor in many European countries as well as in the USA and Canada.Although many of her compositions became bestsellers during her lifetime, they are almost all missing in the concert programmes of today. Only the Concertino for flute and orchestra Op. 107 is still performed regularly. The demanding piece was written in 1902 as a competition piece at the Paris Conservatoire - initially still with piano accompaniment. The orchestral version was composed by Chaminade two years later.The piece begins with a wide melody and then turns into a virtuoso solo section which is followed by a cadenza. The piece ends with the initial theme as recapitulation and a coda. / Flûte Et Piano
