A scholarly-critical performing edition of George Frideric Handel's Complete Organ Works based on the Halle Handel Edition (HHA).First single-volume edition of Handel's Organ worksIncludes all variant readings from the sources which have previously only been available in the Critical Commentary of the HHADetailed Foreword (Ger/Eng) with short descriptions of each source and a Critical Commentary (Ger/Eng)With contemporary Organ dispositionsIn terms of layout and musical text this Barenreiter edition is based on the complete volumes of the composer's Keyboard music edited by TerenceBest as part of the HHA.The Halle Handel Edition's Critical Commentary forms the basis of this edition which however differs from the HHA volumes in two respects. Firstly it gathers together for the first time all of Handel's works for which it can be solidly argued that they were composed for the Organ. The centre piece is a set of twelve handwritten fugues deriving directly from the composer's immediate surroundings and published here for the first time as a unified cycle. Secondly this Barenreiter edition presents plausible alternative readings from various sources in the main body of the music. In the HHA these readings all of which definitely or presumably stem from the composer are merely listed in the critical commentary.Contents:Fuga I in C minor HWV 610Fuga II in G minor HWV 605Fuga III in B-flat major HWV 607Fuga IV in F minor HWV 433/2Fuga V in E minor HWV 429/1Fuga VI in G major HWV 606Fuga VII in D minor HWV 428/2Fuga VIII in A minor HWV 609Fuga IX in B minor HWV 608Fuga X in F-sharp minor HWV 431/3Fuga XI in F major HWV 427/4Fuga XII in F major HWV 611Fuga in E major HWV 612O the pleasure of the plains in G major HWV 474Jesu meine Freude in G minor HWV 480

Fantasy in D minor (No. 1) was written in 1957 by one of the most effectual composers of the twentieth century Miloslav Kabelá (1908–1979) on the initiative of the prominent Czech organist Ji í Reinberger (1914–1977). It was the composer’s first work for solo organ and he later confessed that “… my love of the organ began with this Fantasy and did not end.”He composed Fantasy in D minor in the same year that he completed his cult classics Mysterium asu (Mystery of Time) and Symphony No. 3 (with organ) and the piece soon became a staple of organ repertoire at home andabroad. The following year he composed Fantasy in G minor (No. 2) by commission for the 1st International Organ Competition of Prague Spring 1958.Although Kabelá joined both fantasies into one opus 32 they had as yet been published separately. The present edition is the first to include the whole of Op. 32 in one volume. Complete Organ Works Volume 4 (Urtext edition)-Louis Vierne (1870 1937) raised the Organ symphony to its stylistic zenith. One of his pupils Marcel Dupré was the teacher of Thierry Escaich the co-editor of this complete edition.Vierne?s Symphony No.4 is one of the most important works in the Organ repertoire. Until now it was thought to have originated during the three months of summer 1914. However the editor has discovered a letter from Vierne dated 23 June 1914 that disproves any connection with events of war. As a result the work has been chronologically reclassified leading to its fresh assessment and interpretation see the detailed Foreword inthis new edition for further information. The registration of this seminal work in the Organ literature is in parts reminiscent of César Franck?s Chorale in B minor. In general terms Franck?s influence was already singled out by reviewers of the first performance.Detailed trilingual preface (Fr/Eng/Ger) with a full account of the work?s genesis and notes on performance practice.Comprehensive Critical Commentary (Fr/Eng/Ger)New source materialMany illustrations and facsimile pages
