New Chamber Music for GuitarThere has recently been an unprecedented demand for difficult works for guitar with various accompanying instruments. To make up for the unfortunately very limited repertoire this arrangement of Mozart's ‚'duo for violin and viola' has been launched which replaces the viola by the guitar. It is striking that the guitar character of the viola part is already evident in the original and thus the latter could almost exclusively be directly transferred into the guitar part. A 'new' repertoire piece for chamber music with guitar which is just as good as the original!

Zwei Instrumente, wovon sich das eine doppelt verpuppt [die Flöte in Altflöte und Piccolo, wobei letzteres direkt aus der vorhergehenden tHELianischen Arbeit stammt]. Zwei Bereiche, Musik und Choreographie, wovon sich der eine ebenfalls verdoppelt [live gespielte Musik und Live-Elektronik]. Gespielte und gleichzeitig gesungene Klänge des Flötisten überlagern Polyphonien der Viola, abzielend auf wenig vorhersehbare Kurven, flatterhaft wie diejenigen des Tristram Shandy, woraus der Titel des Duos [und der Choreographie] stammt, mit ihrem Potenzial, fortlaufendes zu unterbrechen und zu interpunktieren. Nr. 2 «the other » für 2 Gitarren verdoppelt das Vorhaben der ersten Version, der Satz von Sterne wird ein weiteres Mal beim Wort genommen. Nur sind hier anstelle einer heterogenen Besetzung ['other'] ein homogenes Paar getreten ['one'], als eine Art der Verspiegelung, die genau der Innenstruktur des Stücks entspricht: im englischen Text als Hauptstruktur [Viola/ Gitarre 1] ist der deutsche Text in zwei Spiegelvarianten enthalten, wie auch im deutschen Text als Hauptstruktur [Flöte/Gitarre 2] der englische. 10 Pieces for Solo Guitar. Maria Linnemann was born in Amsterdam in 1947 and grew up in England. She attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying conducting, piano and violin. Later, inspired by the guitarist, viola player and painter, Martin Nicolai, she turned to the guitar. Since 1971 she has lived and worked in Germany as a musician, composer and pedagogue. She has travelled through many countries and lived and worked in China for five years. Many of her compositions, numbering around 500 to date, were written on these journeys, and include works for solo guitar, guitar duets and trios, songs and chamber music. Maria Linnemann?s music is loved and much played all over the world.
