Earth, Wind & Fire was formed by jazz drummer Maurice White, whose aim was to mix various music styles to produce a unique sound. Combined with excellent song writing and fine performances this sound made Earth, Wind & Fire one of the most influential soul groups of the seventies. In subsequent decades they experienced varying success but this medley reflects the heyday of this legendary group. In his job as staff arranger with the Royal Marine Band of the Dutch Navy, Peter Kleine Schaars wrote many top-class arrangements. The talent of the musicians in the band made it possible to write in such a way that they closely resembled the original works. Consequently, this medley shines just like the original versions by Earth, Wind & Fire. Four famous songs have been used: In the Stone, Got to Get You into My Life, After the Love Has Gone and September.

This suite was composed by Jan Van der Roost on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the ‘Koninklijke Sint Martinusfanfare’ (Royal Saint Martinus Fanfare Band) from Halle (Belgium). The composer was required to create a suite in three movements based on three images associated with the ‘Sint Martinusfanfare’ from the small town of Halle in the province of Brabant. The first movement (Andante Pomposo) describes Martin, a soldier in the Roman army. In Andante Moderato we see the image of Martin, who become a Christian and chooses to devote his life to God. In this movement, the composer was inspired by the Brabantine gothic art of the Sint Martinus Basilica in Halle. Thecontrast between the dark Basilica and the statue of Our Lady between the soaring pillars will vividly come to life for audiences of this descriptive piece. The final movement, Allegro Molto Vivace’, could have been an image for a frivolous peasant in the Halle carnival. In a triptych about St. Martin it is more fitting to refer to it as an apotheosis, the crown on the pastoral work of Martin, Bishop of Tours, Patron Saint of the Fanfare Band and the Basilica of Halle. Der Kontrast zwischen der dunklen Basilika und der von hoch emporstrebenden Pfeilern umgebenen, strahlenden Statue der Mutter Gottes wird für den Zuhörer in diesemausdrucksvollen Bild leicht nachvollziehbar.Der Schlusssatz, ein Allegro Molto Vivace, hätte die musikalische Beschreibung eines ausgelassenen Bauerntanzes während des Karnevalsumzugs in Halle sein können. In einem dem Heiligen Martin gewidmeten Triptychon ist es jedoch angemessener, in einerApotheose darauf zu verweisen, als Krönung des pastoralen Wirkens des Heiligen Martin, Bischof von Tours, Schutzheiliger des Auftraggebers und Stifter der Basilika in Halle.

This work for soprano and concert band was originally written for a special occasion: the wedding of one of the composer's children.It therefore matches another piece written for a similar occasion I Shall Love But Thee. The lyrics are from the book Respiro Neveby the internationally renowned art photographer Luca Artioli - who possesses poetic talent as well. The first movement is stately and serene as where the contrasting allegro is much more dynamic and cheerful, requiring the solid high register of the singer. The conclusion is festive and radiant, partly thanks to the contribution of a piccolo trumpet! This work is a wonderful addition to the band repertoire wanting to perform with an excellent vocal soloist!

This work was commissioned by the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force Band, based at Kure City, Hiroshima, Japan, to celebrate their 60th anniversary. The composer used a passage from Kosaku Yamadas Umi No Sakimori (Sakimori of the Sea), ceremonial music of the Maritime Self-Defence Force. The result is Homage, expressing Yagisawa's respect for Yamada and his work- a tribute to a composerwhose legacy includes a large number of Japanese songs.

Junior Rock depicts two children, a brother and sister, who despite all their differences are both filled with the joys of life. The piece opens with a lively graceful theme depicting the light and good-natured mood that characterizes the two children playing. The music then becomes more calm and romantic in the middle passage. The piece comes to a cheerful and youthful close with the extended restatement of the earlier thematic material. In 1975, a new dance form took the Latin-Amercan areas of the Bronx by storm. After observing the frenzy of the dancers in that area, Van McCoy composed a melody that successfully took its basis from Latin and R&B. The Hustle was an instant success and made a large contribution to the evolution of disco music in the 1970's. Getreu dieser Tradition schrieb Yagisawa ein sehr gesangliches, träumerisches Thema für sein Werk über Perseus, welcher der griechischen Sage zufolge in einem Kampf gegen ein Seeungeheuer die Prinzessin Andromeda rettete. Vom Kinofilm Kampf der Titanen inspiriert, schuf Yagisawa ein dramatisches Werk mit Gesangeinlagen (von einem Chor oder Musikern zu singen), das tiefen Eindruck hinterlassen wird.Cette composition développe un thème éthéré de texture chorale. Satoshi Yagisawa a choisi d’illustrer Persée, une constellation qui doit son nom au célèbre héros grec qui délivra la princesse Andromède, offerte en sacrifice au monstre marin Cetus (ou Kraken). Pour ce faire, Satoshi Yagisawa s’est largement inspiré du film britannique Le Choc des Titans (1981) du réalisateur Desmond Davis, avec une musique dramatique qui devrait convenir de nombreuses formations.

The piece was commissioned by Shobi College of Music (Tokyo, Japan) for their entrance ceremony for freshman students in 2010, premiered by Shobi Ceremonial Wind Orchestra (Hirohisa Takanashi, conductor).In the introduction, woodwinds and euphonium play a solemn passage, followed by a brilliant fanfare in brass and percussion. After the heart-warming middle section, banda trumpets and trombones play a polyphonic passage, which leads to a grand andmagnificent finale to conclude the work. This is a short but solemn and impressive piece that suits any kind of festival, ceremony and concert.Een statige introductie, een prachtige fanfare, een hartverwarmend middendeel en een grootse finale. Deze compositie heeft het allemaal! Houtblazers en euphonium nemen de introductie voor hun rekening. Vervolgens schitteren het koper en het slagwerkin een prachtige fanfare. Il brano, scritto su incarico dell’Accademia di Musica di Shobi in Giappone, debutta con un passaggio solenne eseguito dai legni e dall’eufonio, seguito da una festosa fanfara riservata agli ottoni e alle percussioni. Il grandioso finale coinvolge l’intero organico. Solenne e di sicuro effetto, questa breve composizione è perfetta per tutte le occasioni festive.

The new millennium inspires curiosity, optimism, and fear of the unknown. Belgian composer Johan Nij composed Millennium Fear to capture the uncertainty of this monumental event. The piece combines dynamic sounds, feverish rhythms, and surprising sound textures in the dialogues between different instrument groups. The piece expresses the thoughts and feelings many have toward the new millennium. Der belgische Komponist Johan Nijs hat diesen Gefühlen mit dem Stück Millennium Fever stimmigen Ausdruck gegeben. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Feuerwerk bewegter Klänge, ein Zusammenspiel fiebernder Rhyhmen und unerwarteter Wendungen, worin verschiedene Instrumentengruppen miteinander dialogisiern. Le passage au troisième millénaire avait généré une certaine inquiétude, de la curiosité et même un certain optimisme. Dans Millennium Fever (“La fièvre du millénaire”), les sentiments oscillants deviennent un puissant tourbillon. Les rythmes, l’éclat et l’intensité des sons, associés un choix de notes inhabituel, traduisent la fébrilité de l’attente tandis qu’un dialogue très expressif se crée entre les différents groupes d’instruments, comme un dialogue entre les peuples pour un monde de paix.
