Successful French composer Pierre Gabaye (1930-2000) studied at the Paris Conservatoire where he won the 1956 Prix de Rome. His competence is proven by his Boutade for Trumpet and Piano. Morceau De Concours (1946) by André Chailleux was written for the Paris Conservatoir contest. Lasting 5'25 minutes this piece for Cornet or Bb Trumpet and Piano is difficult to play and quite slow. Starting with the Piano on four measures this work has two distinctive periods: Slow and Allegro. The Piano plays alone during eight or ten measures to emphasise the coming back of the Cornet / Trumpet. This piece will demonstrate well the skills and technique of the player during a contest or even a recital.

Written by Henri Büsser Andante and Scherzo Op. 44 is a superb composition for Trumpet and Piano. This chamber work was used as an audition piece for the Paris Conservatory and this edition contains the solo scores for B flat and for C Trumpet. Henri Büsser (1872-1913) was a French classical composer and organist. He was a professor at the Paris Conservatoire and a member of the Académie Française. He wrote a ballet numerous operas and chamber music.
