These very pleasant Cello duets are but a tiny snapshot of the prodigious output of Robert Lindley. He was born in Rotherham UK in 1776 and died in London in 1855.

Johann Georg Christoph Schetky (1737-1824) a grandi à la Cour de Hesse-Darmstadt où son père était au service de la landgrave Ludwig VIII comme un musicien et un secrétaire. Schetky étudie la composition avec Samuel Endler et violoncelle avec Anton Filtz. Plus tard, il joue du violoncelle de l'orchestre de Cour de Darmstadt, et de 1768 il a donné des concerts comme violoncelliste freelance, à tout d'abord à Hambourg et de 1772 à Londres. En 1774, il devient violoncelliste principal de la société musicale d'Edimbourg et épousa la fille du violoncelliste autrichien Joseph Reinagle (1762-1836).
