Based on a cantillation melody collected by the composer's father in the 1920s this short work suggests ancient origins. The tonality reflects very little of the modes we often associate with oriental or Middle Eastern music. Themelismas are restrained and discreet and the prevailing atmosphere of the music is quietly loving pure and exalted.

(Shiru L'Adonai)-Based on a biblical text ?And Miriam Sang? is a song of celebration following Israel's deliverance from Egypt through the Red Sea. It begins in a slow chant-like manner and soon shifts to an up-tempo dance-like mood. Although the melodies are original they incorporate the augmented second interval and melodic formulas common to Hasidic and some Middle-Eastern music. The use of Hebrew text tambourine and drums add to the authentic feel.

A major work for a mature larger women's choir the concept of this piece is inspired by the composer's never-forgotten visit to the Yad Vashem Centre in Israel. The combined text is from Genesis original text by the composer and names of children of the Holocaust. Both dramatic and intimate this work would be an important experience for your choir and the audience alike. His cycle Von Schiffen, Meer und Wind (Of Ships, Sea and Wind) brings together verses by different poets that explore the sea in its various guises. The work's selected poems describe the vast ocean that can fill us with a deep sense of tranquility, but can also bring mortal danger with its storms and destructive waves. Boats, and especially sailing ships, are often associated with freedom, a sense of weightlessness, and security. But if we are caught in a storm at sea, we suddenly find ourselves at the mercy of nature. We are made painfully aware of our own insignificance in the greater scheme of things.According to the composer and passionate sailor: ?In the five choral songs I attempt to characterize the atmosphere of the texts and the emotions they contain.
