Dale Warland Choral Series-The poetry used in this setting of The Voices was presented to Dale Warland on the occasion of his final concert with the Dale Warland Singers by his friend the poet Michael Dennis Browne.Warland writes ?The art of choral singing has given my life great meaning and I hope to express that fulfillment through this music for mixed chorus and solo cello.?The Cello plays a leading role in thework composed for a 2013 commission consortium of 23 choirs as a gift to Chorus America.

Scored for mixed chorus and organ set to text by William Wordsworth (Intimations of Immortality). This work was uniquely commissioned by the New Cambridge Singers and a consortium of 15 other choirs from around the world by means of the Internet. Commissioned by a consortium from Chorus America this is a setting of a traditional Navaho poem. Beginning with a provocative first line Now Talking God this three word phrase is used as a simple rhythmic motive that becomes the underlying fabric of the piece reflecting the beautiful directness of expression of Native American spirituality.
