As one of the great Baroque composers Antonio Vivaldi's (1678-1741) compositions remain hugely popular to this day. The Four Seasons is his best-known work and therefore Jean-Claude Veilhan's transcription for Recorder was well-received for making the highly acclaimed work more accessible. Vivaldi's Four Seasons were originally published in 1725 as a Violin Concerto. Each movement's texture varies depending on which season it depicts. Veilhan's adaption for Recorder includes articulation phrasing and performance directions necessary to the instrument.
