For Violin Cello Vibraphone and Piano. This work was composed in memoriam Fred Hutchins Hodder who died between Christmas and New Year 2001. A violinist and gifted mathematician 20-year-old Hodder had been atPembroke College Cambridge and the title derives from the pleasure he used to get when finding unexpected connections between seemingly unconnected things. For piano trio and vibraphone the work was written for Hodder’sparents Monroe and Fred.

Clarinette Et Vibraphone Solo

Par TYSHAWN SOREY. Commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association for a world premiere by the LA Phil New Music Group in January 2019, Tyshawn Sorey's gently tolling chamber work For Fred Lerdahl is dedicated to the elder composer on the occasion of Lerdahl's retirement. Sorey credits Lerdahl as one of two teachers who helped him to find his own voice as a composer. A single, 13-minute movement, it features a highly lyrical, muted viola solo over gentle, softly rhythmic dissonances from the two vibraphones and piano. This edition is a performing score, one of four required for performance. / Date parution : 2022-09-07/ Répertoire / Violon, Piano et Vibraphone

Piano Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra (2009) by Poul Ruders. Piano Solo and Orchestral Reduction.Dedicated Becky Starobin. Written for Vassily Primakov. Commissioned by The Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Jerome Lowenthal. Programme Note In this day and age when faced with the challenge of writing a 'Piano Concerto' e.g. a piece for symphony orchestra and an all-dominating and virtuosic solo Piano part one has two options: either: DO or do NOT go for it wholesale exploiting and enjoying the conrnucopia of sonoroustreasures offered by the combination of the orchestra and the 'Grand Piano'. I have opted to go for it. When writing for one of our great young international Piano stars it would be absurd and a waste to do anything less and only 'nibble at the goodies'.However the piece is not a big clunky 'machine'. Rather it is a transparently orchestrated neo-classic (for the lack of a better work) composition in three movements lastign approximately 25 minutes. The piece begins with a moderately paced opening in which the Piano gradually gathers momentum and strength beginning with the most gentle of motifs. In this movement the soloist and orchestra fo not always agree and the vigilant listener will observe the disparity between the two. Following a swift up-beat coda the movement stops almost in mid-breath on one of the gentle Piano chords taken from the very opening. The extreme simplicity of the second movement 'Semplice' (the opening Piano solo bears the marking: 'slightly hesitant - like a child practicing') is after having been joined by the Vibraphone Harp and solo Violin suddenly violated with unprecedented brutality by the rest of the orchestra which virtually 'lies in wait - panting to pounce'. But eventually calm and order is restored. The finale is a crazy rondo of sorts.

Par COROZINE VINCE. Designed to introduce the young intermediate-level pianist to playing the blues, Jazzin' the Blues presents fifteen original blues compositions in various keys, styles and grooves together with downloadable recordings of 40 of the 50 examples in the book. The audio tracks are presented both with and without the lead piano part, so the student can play along with a professional rhythm section which includes piano, vibraphone, alto flute, drums, and bass.Historical and performance notes are provided with each blues composition. The author enlisted the skills of jazz pianist Charlie Freeman in editing the book and providing fingering for both the treble and bass piano parts, making these pieces more accessible to novice players. If your knowledge of blues theory or terminology is lacking, this is the book for you! Author Vince Corozine thoroughly explores and demonstrates: blues and pentatonic scale theory, blue notes, grace notes, pedal-points, tremolos, trills, syncopation, anticipation, delayed beats, slash chords, boogie-woogie left-hand patterns, walking bass, stride piano style, straight eighths, swing eighths, passing tones, rolled chords, riffs, 'filler' chords, substitutions, and comping styles. This book also includes essential blues chord theory as well as tips on tasteful chord voicing presented in the context of accompanying a soloist (comping): in addition, the chord progressions represented by the written notation are carefully annotated in every example in the book. The Appendix includes helpful tips on comping, practice, and jazz soloing, plus a list of noteworthy jazz pianists, a key to chord symbols, and a glossary of jazz terms used in the book.If you are not a competent blues pianist when you first pick up this book, you will be by the time you complete it!
