Added by bernard-dewagtere, 26 Jul 2009 The Bach/Gounod Ave Maria is a popular and much-recorded setting of the Latin text Ave Maria. Written by French Romantic composer Charles Gounod in 1859, his Ave Maria consists of a melody superimposed over the Prelude No. 1 in C major from Book I of the Well-Tempered Clavier (BWV 846), composed by J. S. Bach some 137 years earlier. (Gounod adds one bar so as to smooth out a rough change in harmony in the prelude.) Sheet central : | Ave Maria : Méditation sur le 1er Prélude de Bach (161 sheet music) | |

Thank you! For my Mother's Memorial Service in July, I will sing this and my sister will accompany on the organ. We live over 7 hours from each other Thanks to this we will practice each at home and be prepared when we meet for the one rehearsal we'll have. |
Had 4 days to find this in the right key for a wedding. Just what I needed. Brilliant. Thank you |
This is perfect! Thanks for the free music. |
I'm so glad I found this...perfect. |
