Source : Dittrich, Rudolf, Nippon Gakufu first and seconde serie, Breitkopf and Härtel, Leipzig, 1894-1895 Rudolf Dittrich tells us that Dokkoisho is a "vigorous song with chorus; sung by labourers, students and soldiers". He says that the following verse "dates from wartimes", and gives words in Japanese, German, and English.
