Added by magataganm, 26 Jan 2012 "Goin' Home" is based on a folk spiritual penned in 1893 by William Arms Fisher from "The New World Symphony" Largo Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 Movement 2 by Antonín Leopold Dvořák. I created this arrangement for the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church (SVUMC) for Organ to highlight the somber mantra for use during prelude. am familiar with the "Goin" Home" hymn lyrics and also some folk lyrics, titled "Morning's Come," although i do not know the oigin of these folk lyrics. My Church choir takes a break in June, so they have individual choir members agree to do solos instead. I agreed to do one, and the theme of the month is pride in the all-inclusive nature of God. I thus have written my own lyrics to the Largo to be consistent with this theme. This site has been a wonderful help. I know our Church organist will like Mike Magatagan's arrangement, and the MP3 organ demonstration of the piece has been extremely helpful to me in making my words fit the meter and tambour. It is also great for rehearsing the piece. I am to sing it in mid June. Thank you so much or this wonderful site.
