Hello dear Aaron, your two analyzes are precious. I will first tell a little experiment that owe a composition teacher Take a di-tonic scale . Let sing all the voices on this scale There will never be  mistakes of harmony!  Question. Why? Because the scales are successions of fifths Writing, as I do, with these defective scales gives the impression that each voice, each voice is independent This sense of ambiguity in harmony comes from the dominant role of each voice Hence the sense of brightness that you feel I understood this way of thinking by studying "Farewell my love" from Guillaume Dufay (1400-1474) Thank you for these precious words you wrote:  "a gentle swirling in a summer garden." Writing with scales of  2, 3 or 4 sounds still produces this effect It is the fault of defective scales, not mine Very friendly François. Bonjour cher Aaron, tes deux analyses sont juste. Je vais d'abord raconter une petite expérience que que dois à un professur de composition. Prends une échelle di-tonique ou tritonique. Fais chanter toutes les voix sur cette échelle. Il n'y aura jamais de fautes d'harmonie ! Question. Pourquoi ? Parce que les échelles sont des successions de quinte. Ecrire, comme je le fais, avec l'échelle tritonique donne l'impression que chaque voix, chaque voix est indépendante. Ce sentiment d'équivoque dans l'harmonie vient du rôle prépondérant de chaque voix. D'où ce sentiment de brillance que tu éprouves. J'ai compris cette manière de penser en étudiant ?Adieu m'amour? de Guillaume Dufay (1400-1474). Merci pour ces mots précieux "un doux tourbillonnement dans un jardin d'été?. Ecrire avec les échelles à 2, 3 ou 4 sons produit toujours cet effet. C'est la faute des échelles défectives, pas la mienne. Très amicalement. François.

Much like your previous Aphorisme, its idyllic approach brightens yet tells of inner discord. It is difficult to retrace its progression. Almost equivocal in harmony, this piece really shines, and instructs us as to how to listen for the slightest nuance. Par excellence! Bis.
