Originally written in 1887 (with Ave Maria and Ave Maris Stella) while Elgar was organist at St George's Church in Worcester as a setting of the Pie Jesu, in memory of William Allen, Worcester attorney for whom Elgar worked as a fifteen-year old. Elgar arranged and orchestrated it as a setting of Ave verum corpus for publication in 1902.

A moving choral piece very suitable to be used during Lent and pre-Easter season by church choirs of average ability.

Beautiful clear copies of music. Thanks for helping a chorus member who misplaces her music and doesn't dare ask the librarian for another copy!

I have been asked to play this for a local church choir during a service and although they will supply me with the music, the download will help with my preparation. Many thanks
