Karl Kliebert (13 December 1849 , Prague – 23 May 1907 , Würzburg ) was a German conductor and music teacher .
From childhood he studied piano under Franz Frömter, but then studied law and only in 1870 , having moved from Prague to Munich , began to study music professionally under the direction of Josef Reinberger and Franz Wüllner . In 1874-1875 he worked as a conductor at the city theater in Augsburg , then moved to Würzburg as a teacher at the Würzburg University of Music , and in 1876 he became its head and directed this educational institution until the end of his life. He taught harmony, choral singing and reading of scores, and directed the student orchestra. He promoted the music of Johann Sebastian Bach , while at the same time he admired Richard Wagner and conducted the first performances of some orchestral works by Richard Strauss in Würzburg .
