Choral Choir,Choral (3-Part Mixed) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1348485 Composed by Paul Ambrose. Arranged by Ren Challacombe. 20th Century,Folk. 5 pages. Ren Challacombe #933262. Published by Ren Challacombe (A0.1348485). Originally published in 1921, The Call of Home is a song written about the warmth of family and the strength it gives during times of strife with text by Abbie Farwell Brown and the original arangement by Paul Ambrose. The original text written reads:The path is hard, your feet must travel little oneThe way is long and weary is the loadThe clouds are black that threaten soon to hide the sunA chilling fear is lurking by the roadBut gather close the cloak your mother wove for youTo keep you safe in danger and in stormTheir very heart have made a shield of love for youStrong as her faith, and like her courage warm. The cheery house that craddled you is far awayThe pretty toy that pleased you as a childThe inn you hope to enter at the close of dayIs hidden still beyond the forest wildBut wrap you warm in love that was the whole of herAnd walk in joy, as she would have you doThe thread of life she spun from out the soul of herDraws you to her again a magic clueThe lyrics and voicings have been modified to speak of kin rather than a singular mother figure. Appropriate for early-intermediate choirs. Arranged for three-part mixed-voice choir and piano.

Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548712 Composed by Martin Luther. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Easter,Instructional,Standards. Score and individual part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3411731. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548712). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther arranged for bass flute & piano. The first verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Features the entire range of the instrument. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms. Score: 3 pg. Solo part: 1 pg. The piano reads from the score. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics, essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed pieces, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. He wanted to disseminate the gospel among mankind and with this intention thought that the best way to do that was through music. Influence It is important to realize that other musicians, and their descendants, were encouraged by Luther’s songs and wrote their own hymns. Luther, to be sure, had a thorough musical education. For example, he knew secular and sacred songs from an early age. He, in particular, played the lute well and sang in the monastery when he was a monk. That is to say, music was an essential part of his life. He in fact first began writing songs in 1523, sometimes writing the melody as well as the lyrics. Luther was certainly able to evaluate the composers of his time. He thought especially highly of Josquin des and Ludwig Senfl. He was also acquainted, with this in mind, with other composers and their works. Legacy The Lutheran musical ethos soon covered all of Germany and later significantly fashioned Protestant musical culture. Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach are the most compelling evidence of this Protestant musical culture. Additionally, as a point often overlooked, the pedal organ, first refined in northern Germany, became universally prevalent. As a matter of fact, Dieterich Buxtehude established a regular evening organ concert series in Lübeck. Another key point is that this concert series, in turn, spread North German Musical ideas worldwide. Luther was especially convinced that music is a beautiful and exclusive offering of the divine.

Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1059288). Score:https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/19982639?aff_id=175705Christmas Song for mixed choir (SATBB) performed by the Composer's Choir under Dan Shaw. A jaunty melody with countermelodies with words telling of children playing their games in the dusty streets (ie of Bethlehem) unaware that a miracle has happened and asking them to look up to the angels and join their singing: See the children playing in the dusty alleyways all the buildings round them give no hint of the miracle which happened in a tiny stable just close by Sing Nowell The time has come The time is here For God has come To visit us in the form of a baby called Jesus See the children playing in the dusty alleyways They don't know the miracle happened in their very midst They don't see the angels hovering overhead They don't hear the angels singing singing praises They are playing their own games of mirth so carefree. [Soprano descant] The angels hover unseen over the stable singing their praises They are just like everyone engrossed in their own lives Never looking up to the sky where angels sing [Soprano descant] Sing Alleluia... and the children do not hear oh children you do not hear and the children do not know oh children you do not know the great and mighty wonder the full and blessèd cure Jesus is God incarnate Children hear! Rise now from the dusty streets and noisy alleyways Come and see the wonder which is come to you Leave your games and join the great celestial choir of angels Sing Nowell The time is here the Word has come to visit us in the form of a baby called Jesus We were children playing in the dusty alleyways Now we know the miracle which happened in our very midst [Soprano descant] the angels hover unseen over the stable singing their praises Sing Alleluia... O Children sing!.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Vibraphone,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987848 Composed by Robert M. Greenberg. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 54 pages. Robert M. Greenberg #90285. Published by Robert M. Greenberg (A0.987848). Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 12 minutes Year of composition: 2006 Program Note: The mind searches for the oddest of couples. Felix Unger and Oscar Madison. Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett. The violin and the vibraphone. Aside from the letter V, the two instruments have almost nothing in common. We consider: the violin is the most aristocratic instrument in the Western musical tradition, the prima donna of the instrumental world, an instrument that has had, lavished upon it, more extraordinary music than any other since its invention roughly 475 years ago. And then there’s the vibraphone, a percussion instrument with pitched metal bars and motor-driven resonators that produce a vibrato. Invented around 1925, it’s an instrument created for dance bands and popular music. Anything You Can Do . . . is a confrontation between these two musical opposites. A sense of contest characterizes the entire piece, as the vibraphone seeks to establish its bona fides side by side with the violin, which in turn attempts to keep the vibraphone in its place by beating it at its own game. The first movement is conceived as a race, in which each instrument acts like the other – the violin explosively and percussively, and the vibraphone with lengthy bowed passages – while seeking to shake off the other. The movement concludes with the violin paying a series of huge, chords and a long, sustained triple-stop that, much to its fury, the vibraphone manages to match with a sustained double-stop of its own. The movement ends in a draw. The second movement begins with the violin doing its best to match the vibrato patterns of the vibraphone’s variable motor. Ultimately, the violin breaks free and plays a broad, arioso-styled melody. The vibraphone tries to match it, but cannot; try as it might, its fixed range cannot reach the stratospheric heights of the violin. Advantage violin. The third movement is constructed in three sections. In the outer sections, rapidly rising and falling lines and counter rhythms pervade as each instrument seeks to gain an advantage over the other. In the middle section, alternating, hocket-like phrases give way to bent notes and glissandi in the vibraphone, which infuriates the violin (how dare this upstart percussion instrument do something ordinarily associated with me?). The movement concludes with the violin once again attempting to lord its greater range over the vibraphone by playing a long sustained F# - the same pitch that conquered the vibraphone at the end of the second movement – only to have the vibraphone top it by playing a harmonic a full seven notes above the F#. Game, set, match: vibraphone. Some respect, please, for the new kid on the block. Anything You Can Do . . . is dedicated, with a thousand-and-one thanks, to Victor Romasevich and Jack van Geem.

Large Ensemble Choir - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.747194 Composed by Christopher R. Brown. Christian,Gospel,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 92 pages. Christopher Brown #4601913. Published by Christopher Brown (A0.747194). About the song: This anthem begins by compelling the listener and the performer to consider the parable of the hidden treasure and the pearl. The second verse reflects on David's superlative description of God's Word in Ps. 19. In his letter to the Philippians, Paul speaks of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ when compared to everything else in this life. The lyrics of this song are intended to echo these Truths, encourage the believer, and testify to the incomparable gift of entering into the Kingdom of God, understanding His Word, and being strengthened and set free to do the good works that He prepared in advance for us to do.Can be performed with piano accompaniment only, OR with additional band members (rhythm chart included), OR with full orchestra. Please Note:You can purchase individual copies of the choral score separately on Sheet Music Plus. Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797814 By Captain & Tennille. By Toni Tennille. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop,Rock. Score and parts. 13 pages. Derek Hasted #6306437. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797814). DO THAT TO ME ONE MORE TIME - GUITAR DUETFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This fantastic melody deserves more fame than it gets, though when it first came out it was Captain and Tennille’s second No 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. My arrangement captures the three verses that feature in this piece, and also contains the instrumental break (originally on the lyricon), with most of the ornamentation (except for the big bends that the lyricon can do electronically). This arrangement is set in the same keys as the original, and modulates from C to G (for the instrumental) and then to D.The accompaniment fits nicely on guitar, and it’s ideal for an intermediate duo. With the exception of the instrumental break, which is taken by Guitar 1, neither guitar part comes out of first position all that much, and both parts use familiar chord shapes, whichever key the piece is in at that moment...The roles of tune and accompaniment change over at each verse, so there’s plenty of variety for the players and audience alike. This is one of those pieces that a concert audience will be humming all the way home...I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

In the past 6 years he has commissioned me to write two works for his ensemble, the Boston Landmarks Orchestra: 1) Mambo!!! I said, Yes. I would be delighted to do so. He told me that the subject for this work would be Boston’s own landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. Sure, I said, why not? Charles told me he had a poet in mind who would provide the text, Nancy Stevenson. I said, Great! The work is in four parts, following Ms. Stevenson’s poetic design. I wrote a marching music in Part One depicting Mr. Olmsted when as a child he walked from his home to his aunts and uncles who lived far away. As a young man, Mr. Olmsted went through many jobs until he decided that as a landscape architect he could make cities a better place for children and adults alike. The mayor of Boston hired him to do just that, to make Boston more livable. In Part Two, I wrote presto music depicting the dredging of the Charles River and the planting of trees along its shores. In Part Three, the text describes the Boston Emerald Necklace – the paths that lead from the Fens to the Arboretum to Franklin Park. For this section I chose music that is bucolic and pastoral, a setting that evokes the country side with a flock of sheep, complete with a shepherd and his dog. In the last section the text describes Mr. Olmsted’s dream that in his parks there would be tranquility and rest to the mind … a place where the rich and the poor would play together. The music returns to the legato march that began the work.

Small Ensemble Drum Set,Euphonium,Horn,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802534 By Madeleine Peyroux. By Leonard Cohen. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Jazz. Score and parts. 23 pages. Peet du Toit #5770405. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802534). This Greek dance was inspired by the Holocaust, the death camps, the cremation, the cries, the fate... In some of those camps, prisoner musicians had to play classical music to their fellow inmates on the latter's way to death - no return... until the musician had to follow suit. Unlike Nearer my God, to Thee on the Titanic, these musicians were forced to do this. I became so emotionally involved in this arrangement... every sequence has a meaning: the high cries of the women and the children (flügelhorns), the low voices of the concern and physically defeated men (euphonium & french horn), the sirens (french horn), the promise of eternity (euph solo), the tuba (the continuous beat of walking towards one's death) and the perpetual percussion (the clock is ticking...) and the cyclical theme of endless love against all odds, remembering the good times in a dance with your loved one(s). Yours.
