Since this is more of an R&B groove you won't hear the dissonance and syncopation used for many of the jazz choral tunes you'll find here, but it is not short on feeling (especially with a soulful lead). The text comes from the Gospel according to Luke (Luc. 1:46-55) and describes the visitation of the pregnant Theotokos to her cousin Elisabeth and her joy and gratitude as the baby leaped in her womb. This work is a effort to combine the Byzantine musical tradition with western music choral polyphony and has been performed to inspiring response.
