Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1496253 Composed by Philip Le Bas. A Cappella,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 7 pages. Philip Le Bas #1072778. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1496253). A new setting of Psalm 139 by Philip Le Bas, which begins O Lord, you have searched me out and known me - text printed below. The psalm is a deeply personal reflection by the psalmist on the wonder of my being and on the inescapability of God's love, wherever we might try to hide, and whatever we might do ourselves or might experience - even death. This gentle setting for unaccompanied SATB choir uses the full range of all four choral voices, with just one divisi passage at the end of the composition in the tenor and bass parts. The piece should be sung meditatively, without too much drama, even in the fortissimo passages, aiming for a sense of wonder and inner peace. Psalm 139 O Lord, you have searched me out and known me; you know all my sitting down and rising; you discern my thoughts from afar. You mark all my journeys and my resting place and are acquainted with all my ways. For not a word is on my tongue but, Lord, you know it altogether. You encompass me, behind and before me, you lay you hand upon me. O where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I climb up to heaven you are there; you are there if the grave is where I lie. If I take the wings of the morning, or dwell in the depths of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, your right hand hold me fast. You created my innermost parts; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I thank you for the wonder of my being, I marvel at all your works. Amen.

Kevin G. Pace #963800. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1379122). A dramatic, beautiful, sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.Text:Behold, I Am the Light“Behold, I am the light; I have set an example for you.†(3 Nephi 18:16)Storms of darkness may descend like a winter sky.Clouds of gloom may dominate; sun may be disguised.Walking step by step with Me through mortalityLessens shadows flawlessly; trusting is my plea:Behold, I am the Light . . . a light that has no end.I will lend my power; I will be thy Friend.I can brighten ev’ry path like a blazing torch.I can lighten loads because Father is my source.Behold, I am God’s Light; His love shines through Me.Never to be darkened, feel this love and see.I will faithful be . . . trust Me perfectly.Days of trial might seem long like the darkest night.Tests of patience may endure ev’n in Father’s sight.Trusting in each morning sun is a blessed choice, for bright truth will ever shine. Hear my faithful voice:Behold, I am the Light . . . a light that has no end.I will lend my power; I will be thy Friend.I can brighten ev’ry path like a blazing torch.I can lighten loads because Father is my source.Behold, I am God’s Light; His love shines through Me.Never to be darkened, feel this love and see.God’s light shines through Me, shining endlessly.

I was inspired to write upon hearing the Gospel of John chapter one, the notion of Jesus being the Light that darkness cannot comprehend or defeat. That combined with the Canticle of Simeon in Luke chapter two, of letting go into the arms of the Light that overcomes all darkness stuck with me in times when I needed something to hold onto. - DW .

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1490010 Composed by Text: Eden Reeder Latta (1839 - 1915) Tune: Henry Southwick Perkins (1833 -1914. Arranged by Ken Litton. Christian,Lent,Religious,Sacred. 11 pages. Artist of Note, Inc. #1066874. Published by Artist of Note, Inc. (A0.1490010). Whiter Than the Snow/Eden Reeder Latta - Henry Southwick Perkins BLESSED BE THE FOUNTAIN arr. Ken Litton (ASCAP)As an SBC music missionary active in Brazil I quickly discovered the hymns missionaries had taken with them as the work gained impetus from the 1890s when the Bagbys arrived to build on the foundation laid by early pioneers like Solomon Ginsburg. I found myself leading those hymns from the nearly 100 year old Cantor Cristão (Christian Singer) in the strongly attended evening services at the Igreja Batista Rio Doce (Sweet River Baptist Church) in Recife, with people literally leaning in through the windows from outside to sing along. Just a normal p.m. attendance or... curiosity about the missionary leading? No, certainly it was the message of the gospel in these great hymns and in the Brazilians’ creative work as well. I mainly remember holding that small print hymnal in one hand and leading with the other (shaking badly) and singing in Portuguese! From that kind of congregational participation I vividly remember the hymn Blessed be the Fountain by Eden Reeder Latta (1839 - 1915) and Henry Southwick Perkins (1833 -1914) with it’s energetic dotted eighth and sixteenth rhythm figures and text of confession based on Zechariah 13:1. That text was very important in the lives of disciples in Brazil and in my own heart. Here I have used only the verses of the text and tune, simply smoothing out the rhythm and adjusting the lyric to more modern usage (yet preserving the devotional pronouns Thee, Thy and Thine). The tune BLESSED BE THE FOUNTAIN is altered in rhythm, tempo and one descending interval from the original. The arrangement is by me, having built the intro, interlude and key change as well as the ending from the material that constituted the refrain in the origina. As a bridge and additional textual/musical impulse into the key change and final verse I’ve interpolated the refrain from the well-known gospel hymn Whiter than Snow (FISCHER) by James Nicholson and William G. Fischer. The voices include a wide variety of unison, two-part and four-part passages that are well within the capability of the average church choir. The accompaniment difficulty level is about as minimal as it can be I hope, while still reflecting support for the voices, a measure of variety as well as some real independence.I certainly think choirs of some ability and their dedicated accompanists will enjoyWhiter Than the Snow as much as I have in developing it.

BEHOLD HE IS COMING (SATB) – Revelation 1:7

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926664 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588427. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926664). The Apostle John’s visions in Revelation are nothing less than astounding to all readers. However, little is it known that another Hymn to Christ is neatly tucked into the very first seven verses of this last book of the Bible. John begins his Revelation (verses 1-3) with a prelude, introducing Jesus Christ and the apocalypse (revelation) that was made to him via the angel sent to describe all the things about which he was to write. He says, Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and keep what is written in it, for the time is near. After this short prelude, John delivers an epistolary opening (a greeting identifying the author and recipients), then pronounces a blessing upon the recipients-verses 4-6. After both the prelude and the opening, John immediately proceeds to another known Hymn to Christ, in verse 7, which I have called, Behold He Is Coming. When presented with the text in Revelation 1:7, I immediately thought, Where is the Gospel, the good news, in this piece? After several minutes of meditating on the text, I realized the Gospel message was right there in front of me-in the very last line: Yes, so be it [Lord], so be it, [Amen!] There will be peace! All will be known. Every single person will understand, at that point. The end, is the ushering in of a new beginning. The piece is scored in G minor for SATB with flute and Bâ™ clarinet accompaniment. In the opening phrase, we hear the clarinet on a sustained high (concert) G, which crescendos into a quick, descending sixteenth note pattern. There is urgency! The flute joins the clarinet in a duet to complete the introduction to the anthem. Then, the choir begins their haunting chant, Behold, He is coming with the clouds. Every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him. Every eye will see Him and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him . Alas, there is peace! The two instruments dissolve into an a cappella four-part chorale where the choir creates the agreement between the text and the music, modulating to the relative major (Bâ™)-all is reconciled in a final Amen!

Octavo. 11 pages. Sandra Milliken #5998069. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774767). Hard to Say I’m Sorry is a No. 1 song by the American rock band Chicago. It spent twelve weeks in the top 5 of the Billboard Chart.Written by Peter Cetera (Chicago’s bassist, who also sang lead vocals) and the group’s producer David Foster (who played piano on the track), the song is about a person trying desperately to hold on to a relationship that has fizzled out, promising to make up for his/her indiscretions and playing the we’ve been through so much card.Hard to Say I’m Sorry was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in September 1982. Peter Cetera won an ASCAP Pop Music Award for the song in the category, Most Performed Songs. Two arrangements of Hard to Say I’m Sorry are available for immediate download: one for SATB choir and one for SSA voicing, both with piano accompaniment.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.939957 Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by John Morgan. Christian,Classical,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 3 pages. Morgan Music #5993589. Published by Morgan Music (A0.939957). An SATB arrangement of Angelus Domini in the style of Maurice Durufle's Ubi Caritas. The ancient and venerable text is retained with it's original Gregorian chant melody. The Angelus is sung 3 times throughout the day with ringing of bells at 9:00 AM, 12 Noon and 6:00 PM. This practice still continues in various parts of the world, in monastic life and in more traditional Catholic communities. This arrangement is also suitable for liturgical use in churchs and schools, particularly for Marian feasts and would also be excellent for Advent or Christmas concert season.English Translation:â„£. The Angel of the LORD declared unto Mary, â„Ÿ. And she conceived of the Holy Ghost. Hail Mary, full of grace; the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. â„£. Behold the handmaid of the LORD. â„Ÿ. Be it done unto me according to thy word. Hail Mary, full of grace; the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. â„£. And the Word was made flesh. â„Ÿ. And dwelt among us. Hail Mary, full of grace; the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.â„£. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. â„Ÿ. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray, Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O LORD, Thy grace into our hearts; that, we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. â„Ÿ. Amen. â„£ . Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. â„Ÿ . As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841363 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Samuel Arnold, and William H. Cummings. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 18 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #6098159. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.841363). This year's Christmas publication choice fell on a song very dear to me: Hark! The herald angels sing. The text, inspired by Luke’s Gospel (2:14), appears for the first time in a collection of Christmas carols called Hymns and Sacred Poems in 1739, jointly written by Charles Wesley (1707-1788 ) and George Whitefield (1714-1770), two of the founding members of the Methodist movement. The version we know today is the one adapted by William H. Cummings (1831-1915) from the section Vaterland, in deinen Gauen of the Festgesang zum Gutenbergfest, WoO 9, by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847). The story, however, is more complex and articulated than that. The original version of the text, written by Wesley, bearing the title Hymn for Christmas-Day, had received only slow and solemn music for its verses, music now almost completely discarded. Also, his original opening lines were Hark! How all the welkin rings / Glory to the King of Kings .The version that has been passed to us is the result of alterations made by different hands, especially those of Whitefield, who changed the initial couplet into the one we know today. In 1840-one hundred years after the publication of Hymns and sacred Poems-Mendelssohn composed a cantata commemorating Johann Gutenberg’s invention of movable-type printing. The English musician William H. Cummings finally adapted Mendelssohn’s music around 1855 in order to fit the music to the verses and give it its present look.In this edition we propose the version that every listener expects to hear when reading the title on the programme and, immediately after, one of the few original versions that have reached us in their entirety, that is the one set to music by Samuel Arnold (1740-1802) and available today in The British Minstrel, and Musical and Literary Miscellany, vol. 3, published in 1843.The proposed instrumentations are those of the classical string quartet and the cello quartet. Both variants are very simple to perform and are certainly suitable for small string ensembles formed in musical schools. In the cello quartet version, the only relatively complex part is that of the first cello, which should be left to the teacher or to a student able to play up to the 7th position without excessive troubles.I hope this music can bring you the serenity that made me prepare it.

Kevin G. Pace #1010232. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1429535). A notable, sacred Christmas hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Kathryn W. Hales.Text:The sounds of that holy, sacred nightBegan with moans of pain,Mary cried out as all mothers do,From the straw where she had lain. She was young, but knew God’s will:Become the mother of His Son, He came to earth as all men do,Born to be The Anointed One. Another sound broke through the night,A whimper from a newborn babe,In Bethlehem so long ago,Where in a manger He was laid.He cried as all babies do,But cradled in His mother’s care,He left heaven’s glory to reside,In a world of dark despair. Songs rang out that joyous night,As angels came down to Judah’s hills,And choirs proclaimed the wondrous birth,And the heavens their voices filled.“Peace on earth, good will to men,”Were the glad tidings of great news. The Word of God manifest in flesh,Would proclaim His gospel’s truths. Then Mary’s song that holy night,Became a lullaby of joy,As she gazed with wondermentAt this child, her precious baby boy,Hers to hold but for a time,Soon His Father’s work to do,On earth becoming Savior Lord,To live and die for me and you. Chorus:Sounds of that sacred nightHeard by so very few,Now ring forth from land to land,Announcing again the joyous news. The sounds and songs that holy night,We celebrate at Christmas time,The song of love that Christ was born,Song of love, O Love Divine!

Easter,Sacred,Spiritual. 5 pages. Mary Ellen Haupert #3031789. Published by Mary Ellen Haupert (A0.900166). ILLUMINE LE TENEBRE (SSAATTBB) For Jean Saladino and the Viterbo University Concert Choir TRANSLATION of TEXT: Most High, glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my heart and give me true faith, certain hope and perfect charity, sense and knowledge, Lord, that I may carry out your holy and true command. Amen. - St. Francis of Assisi's Prayer before the Crucifix NOTES from the composer: One year ago, I had the privilege of participating in the Leadership Pilgrimage to Assisi and Rome (2011) sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Franciscan Healthcare, and Viterbo University. I carried with me, not only the responsibility of bringing back a hint of Francis’ lived experience to my students, but the desire to compose something wholly Franciscan. The San Damiano Cross is one of the most distinctive Franciscan images we have on campus. The gentle Jesus that hangs on this 12th-century icon will forever be linked to Francis’ dramatic step from citizen to sainthood-welcoming his earnest prayer to enlighten the darkness of his heart. The Basilica of Santa Chiara in Assisi holds both the San Damiano Cross and the remains of his confidante, St. Clare. It seemed a good place to start getting serious. Copying the prayer in at least six different languages, I tucked it away in my travel books, not digging it out again until the following summer (2012). The opening phrases in the piece came easily enough (Altissimo, glorioso Dio), but I stumbled through a handful of ideas before coming up with the mantra (illumine le tenebre…). It made sense that Francis would joyfully address God singing forte (Altissimo and Signore), while quietly chanting his humble prayers for faith, hope, charity, and knowledge. The friendship between Francis and Clare can’t be missed, not only in the intermingling of SATB voices, but in the setting of che faccia lo tuo santo e verace comadamento (that I may carry out your holy and true command). The phrase is sung only once by the women before the final return of the illumine chant (which is repeated throughout by the men). Maybe I chanced on weaving some of Clare’s courage with Francis’ persistence into Illumina le tenebre, all while trying to compose something wholly Franciscan?  ---Mary Ellen Haupert, October 2012. Baruch HaBa is hebrew for Blessed is He who Comes... (in the name of the LORD). This is a quote from Psalm 118:26 - (Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD). This is also what the people were quoting when they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem in Matthew 21:9. Later, in Matthew 23:38, as Jesus laments of Jerusalem he uses this same phrase, saying Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! 39 For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ So this was after they had already welcomed him, and now I guess are about to betray Him. Some people thinks this means Jesus will not return the 2nd time til the Jewish people say Blessed is Jesus who comes in the name of the LORD! So this song celebrates Jesus first coming, and invites his next coming.

In its simplest form, the refrain may be repeated ( in Latin and/or in English) as an ostinato with solo instruments added on selected repetitions. This would be particularly appropriate for communion time, where the assembly/ choir could sing while processing to communion. In a more extended form, the verses may be sung by a soloist alternating with the choral refrain. Verbum caro factum estHabitavit in nobisAlleluiaWord made flesh now drawing nearCome to live among us hereTo you, O Lord, I lift up my soul, O Lord, my God I have trusted in you. O God protect me from those who wish me ill, may those who hope in you be never ashamed.Behold, O people, people of Sion, the Lord will come to save the nations. The Lord will make his glorious voice heard, this voice shall be heard in the joy of your hearts.Drop down the dew, you heavens above and let the clouds rain down the one who is just. Octavo. 98 pages. Christian Music Ministries #6135917. Published by Christian Music Ministries (A0.927456). Rock - a worship musical.Full piano score with SATB choir, solo parts and narration.Starting in Caesarea, Peter's story unfolds in flashback. From fishing, his 3 years on the road alongside Jesus and the disciples, his triumphs and failures. Jesus calls Peter 'the Rock' - but we see that only in Christ, and filled with His Spirit, is Peter on solid ground.Synopsis Traditional words introduce the theme of the Musical: Jesus is our ROCK OF AGES, but the story starts IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA. Here, centurion Cornelius declares I’ve had a vision - but who can explain it, who can help? Cornelius’ household tell of Simon Peter, a disciple of Jesus, and we are taken back to Galilee when Peter, a fisherman, WORKING IN THE FAMILY BUSINESS, hears Jesus’ call to leave your nets and leave your boats. He responds I WILL FOLLOW YOU. For three years Peter follows Jesus, and when challenged declares YOU ARE MESSIAH, the Son of the living God! Jesus replies On this rock I will build my church, then, ominously, points towards Jerusalem. He and his followers eventually arrive in the city at Passover, and during the meal they wonder IN THIS BREAD, IN THIS WINE, is there love for me? At first reluctant, Peter allows Jesus to wash his feet. Events turn against Jesus; he is arrested, and Peter is afraid. The taunt SURELY YOU MUST HAVE BEEN WITH HIM sees Peter denying he ever knew Jesus. Then their eyes meet across the courtyard, and Peter is devastated by his own failure. But even at such an awful time as this, THE LOOK OF LOVE contains acceptance and hope. WERE YOU THERE WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED MY LORD? Peter wasn’t - he was in hiding along with many of the disciples. But after the resurrection, Jesus greets Peter and the others in Galilee: THIS IS THE PLACE – I am the Lord who comes to meet you here. Jesus asks: SIMON PETER, DO YOU LOVE ME? After being asked three times Peter reaches reality: Lord, you know everything … you know how much I love you! and receives the commission Feed my sheep. Peter and the disciples return to Jerusalem, and wait for the promised Holy Spirit. At Pentecost the Spirit comes, and as A CHOSEN PEOPLE, the followers of Jesus receive his power. Peter preaches, and thousands believe and respond JUST AS I AM … O Lamb of God I come. The Church is born and in the power of the Spirit begin WORKING IN THE FATHER’S BUSINESS, doing the things that Jesus did! Peter eventually arrives IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA. He shares his vision with Cornelius and his household, and declares God has no favourites … you can be saved too … if you believe in Jesus. They believe, receive the power of the Spirit, and Gentiles also become members of the Chosen People, called out of darkness into wonderful light! Peter’s vision is fulfilled – the Gospel is for all who believe in Jesus. Peter declares HE IS THE STONE that the builders rejected … on Jesus the ROCK I will build my life! .

Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.583678). This is the first single and opening number of a lesser known group that Todd Rundgren fronted, Nazz. I actually liked this group, even though they were not commercially successful. This song was released as a single. However it fell short, mainly because the B-Side was accepted better, Hello, It's Me. This song is a rocker and a typical 60s rock song. Rock was beginning to take hold, however, a lot of bands added a smooth section in their songs to get more appeal. This song is no exception to that rule. The song is unusual in that the section that leads to the final chorus has several time signature changes, which was not the norm for the time. At times the voices will be at their high limit, to keep the feel of the original recording. This song still rocks with the best of them. Duration = 2:51. Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1310999 By Elton John. By Bernie Taupin and Elton John. Arranged by Roy Rashbrook. 20th Century,A Cappella,Contest,Festival,Singer/Songwriter. 7 pages. Silverbright Music #899973. Published by Silverbright Music (A0.1310999). One More Arrow originally featured as the closing song of 1983's album Too Low For Zero. It's a perfect song to include in a programme on the subject of life and remembrance. Bernie Taupin's beautiful lyrics present an elegy for a departed friend or father figure who now lies in the soft brown earth that holds him, forever always young. The lyrics drew from Elton John one of his most gorgeous melodies and I have kept much of the harmony intact in this arrangement, although the second verse gets a bit more ambitious. In addition, the melody is shared out between the various vocal parts, meaning that the basses don't have to spend the entire performance going doo doo!Scored for Soprano solo, SATB á capella, this moderately difficult arrangement involves frequent splits in the Soprano and Bass parts, occasional splits in the alto and none at all in the tenor! In my arrangements, I like to go one step beyond simply presenting the original song for choir, so in the second verse there's the gentlest of subtle nods to Paul Simon's The Boxer at the mention of he could have been a boxer and the lyric knocked me down provides an opportunity for a choral cascade from top to bottom. And just before the final chorus, the choir's vocal lines represent the trajectory of an arrow, shooting up to a top F in the soprano solo part before descending into the new key of B flat major for the closing section. For medium to advanced chamber choirs.

Christ is of our flesh; for me His death, for me His Resurrection. If in death I am dissolved, through the power of Christ I shall rise again. When Christ suffers death, when amid tears He is laid in the tomb, I behold myself; and, when restored from the tomb He again stands before me, I gaze upon God. 2. I know that in Christ my body shall arise; why bid me, then, despair? For I shall go by that same path whereby my Lord returned, death trodden neath His feet; this is my creed. 3. Then banish, my limbs, all terror; and believe that with Christ our God you shall again return; for it is He that sustains you; He will call you to join Him. Laugh at the threats of sickness, scorn the blows of fate; despise the horrors of the tomb, and follow where the risen Christ summons. -- Prudentius (348 - after 405 AD), selections from his APOTHEOSIS.
