David McKeown #654929. Published by David McKeown (A0.1050563). The Favorite was one of many solo piano rags written by Scott Joplin in the wake of his success with Maple Leaf Rag. Published in 1903, The Favorite is subtitled “A Ragtime Two-Stepâ€, which suggests a slower tempo to fit the two-step dance. This arrangement of The Favorite is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. Published by David McKeown (A0.592498). It’s Been a Long Long Time is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Oboe. It’s Been a Long Long Time is best known to modern audiences as the song at the end Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers, after seventy years, finally gets to dance with Peggy Carter. The song of course, is much older. Two versions of It’s Been a Long Long Time topped the charts in late 1945, and as US servicemen returned from Europe and the Pacific, it perfectly caught the mood of the times. One version was by Bing Crosby, and the other by the Harry James Orchestra featuring Kitty Kallen on vocals. Joplin lived for a while in Sedalia, Missouri and the Maple Leaf Club in that town is thought to have provided the name for this composition. It provided Joplin with a steady income for the rest of his life, and while he requested that it be played at his funeral, his wife refused as she felt it inappropriate. It was the first track on Joshua Rifkin’s famous 1970 revival recording of Joplin’s music and, never waning in popularity, it has featured in hundreds of films.
