This version is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet. The words and music of Steal Away to Jesus are credited to Wallis Willis, a Native American freedman from Oklahoma. A local minister transcribed the song and within a few years it became a firm gospel favourite. The words have a meaning beyond the spiritual, with hidden references to the Underground Railway of the time that helped escaped slaves cross to Canada. Stand by Me was originally released by the co-writer Ben E King in 1960 and is the sixth highest royalty earning song of all time.  However, King never intended to record the song himself. The story goes he had some studio time left over after a session and the producer asked him if he had any other songs they could put on tape. When King sat at the piano and performed Stand by Me, the producer recognised a huge hit in the making. This version is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time is around three minutes. Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and expressive playing. This version is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Trumpet.Bublitschki was written in 1922 by Yakov Jadow. The title means pretzels in Russian and was inspired by the pretzel sellers by the railway station in Odessa. Jadow observed that the street-vendors were poverty-stricken and wrote the song as a lament. Initially popular in the Soviet Union, a recording by the Barry Sisters in 1939 brought this song to an international audience.Bublitschki is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. Joplin lived for a while in Sedalia, Missouri and the Maple Leaf Club in that town is thought to have provided the name for this composition. It provided Joplin with a steady income for the rest of his life, and while he requested that it be played at his funeral, his wife refused as she felt it inappropriate. It was the first track on Joshua Rifkin’s famous 1970 revival recording of Joplin’s music and, never waning in popularity, it has featured in hundreds of films. This duet version for one Flute and one Trumpet includes all four sections of the original composition.
