Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534527 Composed by Jean-Thierry Boisseau. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards,World. Score and part. 27 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3604007. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534527). It was in the process of preparing the publication of the works of Demersseman and of Ali Ben Sou Alle that suggested to me the idea of the typical 19th century practice of the Fantasy and Variations on well-known themes. The saxophone lends itself perfectly for this stylistic exercise. I therefore chose to write for this instrument, which the piano supports seriously. My republican roots (in the French sense) suggested that I set several revolutionary songs from 1789. I therefore chose the emblematic “ Ah ça ira ! â€, after having seen the famous sequence of “Si Versailles l’était conté†where Piaf sings this song hanging of the grill of the Palace of Versailles, in the superbe version by Jean Françaix.I added at the end “ La Carmagnole †and the famous “ Il pleut bergère †a foreshadowing of the destiny of Marie-Antoinette who is said to have enjoyed singing this air. One will find, a bit hidden, a short citation of a work for organ by Bach. This isn’t a pastiche but rather a sort of modern update to this form in respecting its codes, its forms of this type of work which disappeared temporarily due to forced musical austerity.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533354 Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle, Gioachino Rossini. Arranged by Paul Wehage. Concert,Opera,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 30 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2363209. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533354). One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director ofmusic of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London. While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series inLondon. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octavemechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and begantouring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the«turcophone ». He performed in all the European capitals and then traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Manilla, Java, throughChina and then to India where he finally settled in Mysore, becoming the director of the Royal Music for the Maharadjah. It wasduring this period that he converted to Islam and changed his nmae to Ali ben Sou Alle (or Ali, son of Soualle). Hesubsequently travaled to Ile Maurice, to French Polynesia, the Cap of Natal and the Cap of Good Hope. All of these voyageswere subjects of musical works which Soualle entitled Souvenirs de... and may perhaps have been part of a collection knownas The Royal Album which was presented to the Prince of Wales after a royal concert. Soualle returned to Mysore in 1858 and was almost killed in the Indian Revolution.Around 1860, Soualle returned to France for health reasons and began publishing his own music. On March 27 1865, heperformed a command performance for the Emperor Napoleon III at the Tuileries Palace in the presence of the entire ImperialFamily. After 1865, nothing more is known about him.Fantaisie sur Le Barbier de Séville begins with the Count's 1st act cavatina Ecco ridente in cielà This is followed by a seriesof variations sur Rosina's Cabaletta Io sono docile. The second act finale Fredda ed immobile is then presented in a number of variations. Finally, the second part of the Count and Figaros first act duo (Ah che d'amore) brings the work to a brilliant finish.

His opera fantasies are usually written for the Alto saxophone and are generally in the form of an introductory aria with cadenza, a theme with one or more variations and then a final waltz movement in rondo form with a final brillant variation. This specific work opens with motives from the Opera‘s overture, leading to Donna Anna’s 1st act aria Or sai, chi l'onore. The duet Là ci darem la mano is the subject of two variations followed by a brief interlude using Zerlina’s aria Batti, batti, o bel Masetto and then the final section is the duo Andiam’ Andiam ‘ Mio Bene between Don Giovanni and Zerlina which ends the Act I duet. The work ends with a brillant coda

Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #119471. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532886). This work was inspired by the poem of the same name by Keats. It was written originally for saxophone and organ by its comissioner the saxophonist Paul Wehage and Françoise Lvéchin-Gangloff, the organist at the Church of Sain Roch in Paris where the work was premièred on February 12, 2012 It also exists in a version for saxophone and piano and for saxophone and string orchestra (with harp). The orchestral version was recorded on Thérèse Brenet's CD Le Livre de L'Harmonie du Monde on JTB-Prod (http://www.jtbprod.com/llhm.htm ) The work is not a literal illustration of the poem, but an evocation of emotional states between a Romantic literary work and the music which the writing inspired more than a century and a half later, seen through a Modern musical aesthetic. After 1865, nothing more is known about him. This fantasy begins with motifs from the 1st act chorus « Sempre Felc’Amina » ». The Count’s first act aria « Vi ravisso, o loughi ameni » is followed by an extended cadenza and leads to Amina and Elvino’s first act duo « Prendi l’amel ti dono ». Amina’s second act aria « Ah non guige! » is presented with a brilliant variation to bring the work to a close.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534135 Composed by Louis Adolphe Mayeur. Arranged by Paul Wehage. Concert,Opera,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 29 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3133401. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534135). Louis Adolphe Mayeur (1837 - 1894), was a Belgium clarinetist, saxophonist, composer and conductor who spent most of his musical career in France; Entering the French Military in 1855, he was a clarinetist in the Second Régiment of the Cuirassiers (Mounted Calvary) of the Garde Impériale. A student of Klosé at the Paris Conservatory, he received his First Prize in Clarinet in 1860. One of the inner circle of Adolphe Sax (along with fellow Belgiums Jules Demersseman and Jean-Baptiste Singelée, whose “Quartet for Saxophones“ was premièred with Mayeur playing and Demersseman conducting), Mayeur took up the saxophone and was quickly engaged as the saxophone soloist in the Opera House of Brussels, La Monnaie (the Mint). Sax commissioned a number of works from Mayeur for the saxophone, which were published by his company and used in his class at the Paris Conservatory.By 1871, Mayeur was also named Saxophone Solo with the Paris Opera, performing in opears and ballets by Halévy, Meyerbeer, Thomas, Saint-Saens, Massenet, Délibes and Paladlihe. It would appear that sometime during this period, his relations with Sax became difficult, culminating in his publications of works by Buffet-Crampon, one of Sax’s rival companies and one of the main protagonists in the series of lawsuits which led to Sax’s bankrupcy. Mayeur’s own declining health lead to his death in 1894.The Grande Fantaisie de Concert sur Rigoletto dates from 1877. The contrasting sections use motifs from arias and duets from Verdi’s opera. Florid cadenzas seperate the various sections, but those passages should be played in the manner of “bel canto†ornamentation, always lyrical and songlike. Versions are available from Musik Fabrik for Symhony Orchestra (on rental : 2222/2000/Timp/hp/strings) and for Concert Band (for sale). The score plus solo part for each of the versions is available for sale, as well as the individual parts for the concert band version

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844547 Composed by Robert Franz. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 6 pages. Phil Beaman #3517817. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844547). Robert Franz was a Romantic Era composer of lieder (German Art Song) whose pieces were highly praised by Schumann. When I removed the important lyrics from Feast of Love in order to make an accompanied instrumental solo I needed to convey the passionate drama just in the music. I changed a simple strophic form into an ABA Coda with every verse getting a different treatment. My harmony is much richer and more varied than the original. I added new articulations, dynamics, and other markings as well as a cadenza for one of the bridges. Excellent piece for a student to learn Romantic characteristics of expression, phrase shaping, and sempre rubato. This song is also excellent for Weddings. Alternative translations of the title are Celebration of Love and Love's Fire. You can definitely feel the fire and passion in this beautiful piece! This arrangement is not difficult to play, but is marked Early Intermediate because it requires musicianship to play well.3 minutes4 pages score, 2 page solo partTemporary recording of piano reduction of full score.

His is often confused with Pierre Génin, who was a flutist who performed mainly in England during the early 20th century.Génin was the Principal flute of the Theatre Italien in Paris, and of the Colonne Orchestra. In addition to writing many works for the flute (he wrote over 60 works for this instrument, he was also one of the first composers to write for the saxophone. He was an Officier de l’Académie des Beaux-ArtsThe six works in the set of Opus 15 are among the first works ever written for the saxophone. They are in the form of charactor pieces; The Introduction is in the style of a florid bel-canto récitative with a lively polonnaise in several contrasting sections.
