This is more utilitarian than a creative arrangement, and by that I mean that this is designed to save you time fingering and analyzing, which is often the tedious stuff that hardly anyone would enjoy over actually playing the piece.The fingering numbers are truly fingering numbers so don't let the numbers confuse you on what pitch it is. These numbers are more difficult to understand than just fret numbers, but they are more professional. I have glissando markings, but they are to show pivot fingers and parallelisms rather than glissandos. Having chord names for classical music is unconventional, but that is part of what gives this arrangement its uniqueness. I'm not sure why classical sheet music doesn't; the chord names are extremely beneficial, and they technically stem from figured bass that composers like Bach would use. Sometimes it is tricky to give a measure a chord name though, since sometimes it is more of an implied harmony, or it's too vague, or it's too melodic. Features1. Fingerings added 2. C’est un beau voyage aux travers des tonalités que je vous propose avec ces deux pièces.La première Le chemin de croix expriment les 14 tableaux de la Passion du Christ par l’intermédiaire d’un simple arpège et de 14 tonalités différentes. Les 12 tonalités mineures qui débutent l’œuvre de façon parfaitement naturelle (ré, la, mi, si, fa#, do#, sol#, ré#, sib, fa, do, sol) sont suivi par deux tonalités majeures (ré et la) qui viennent conclurent l’œuvre comme une triomphante délivrance.La deuxième pièce Labyrinthe reprend le même principe, mais de façon différente. I have arranged and written a number of popular Spanish and Latin American songs specifically to help the development of Sight Reading at Intermediate Level - this means you should be able to read and play finger style guitar from Early intermediate levee (Grade 3 Trinity College) or above. In the range Grade 3 to 5 the keys used in sight reading exams are C major/A minor, G Major /E minor (one sharp) and F Major/D Minor (one flat) and this book contains songs using these keys. This verison of the book contains no marking on the music at all except the key and time signature in order to develop sight reading and note recognition skills. Both parts of the duet are written at the same level so you can interchange which part you wish to play. Two pages of music.Neve (pronounced NEEV) is an ancestral name within my family, to whom this piece is dedicated. The word appears in multiple languages and has a variety of meanings. In British English, Neve has two definitions, both of which have long been out of common usage. The first definition refers to a younger male relative such as a nephew or grandson. The second refers to a spendthrift. Neve is also found in Irish as a girl’s name. In various Latin and Romance languages, it refers to snow or glaciers. Neve is one of a set of four pieces composed in late 2019 and early 2020. The publication of the entire set is forthcoming, but I am also offering Neve here as a short standalone work. Composed for guitar solo, Neve evokes a young boy’s leisurely daydream. The 3/2 time signature, marked andante, and opening G major tonality convey the sense of a lazy weekend day outside in the woods or by the water. Like many daydreams, Neve starts out simply before wandering off into different moods and ideas. A recurring transitional passage (set as a quasi hemiola) serves to modulate to new tonal areas, each of which has its own distinct character. The brief section in A Dorian is marked con moto and evokes the thoughts of excitement and adventure. This is followed by a contrapuntal section in E minor with hints of Dorian. The mood here is more subdued and perhaps even melancholy. The penultimate section in C# minor (with hints of pentatonic and Phrygian) suggests a longing for faraway exotic places before returning to G major to end the piece.

The title Ich ruf zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ means: I call to You, Lord Jesus Christ and is famous for it's simplicity and profoundness. Prelude is composed for organ and it's original tonality in F minor. I transposed it to more guitar friendly tonality D minor.I loved the way Paweł Pawlikowski used the piece in the last scene of his Oscar winning movie Ida, so I took the liberty to transcribe it. It is quite demanding but totally worth an effort. The music is beautiful! This piece makes you stand out as a solo jazz guitarist of all idioms. Some chords are played as triads or dyads. I tend to use a minimalist style that keeps the important parts of the music. This piece needs to be swung hard. It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing! Very danceable piece. Legend has it that Ellington's orchestra would play this rhythm as long as the floor was filled with dancers! Another tried and true arrangement. Have fun with it! Sounds great on acoustic and electric guitars.

The storyline is a play within a play, the second part being the mythological 'Opera' staged in the story. The three pieces transcribed* are from this Opera. The instrument has only six strings, the left hand four fingers able to be used, and with the right hand its rare to use more than three fingers and the thumb. So, despite the amount of noise possible, it's inevitable that passages occur where either harmony, bass or fragments of counterpoint that would be beneficial are left out. In particular, the higher up the neck music is played the simpler it tends to be, if harder to play, and unless the low bass is an open string there wont be any. So I think the main part of attaining a fair transcription (better to be called an arrangement if the original musical structure is not strictly followed, as in this case) is determining how a good compromise can be reached. Melody, counterpoint, bass and main harmonies demand inclusion, and register is important. One may generally assume the original score can't be improved on. However, if the music may sound well on guitar, and the above elements can be incorporated without the playing becoming very difficult, something enjoyable to play and worthwhile listening to should be able to be achieved. Overture; 'A golden time …' Here the Mozart influence, better, inspiration, is wonderfully evident. A gentle waltz time (only the first section of the overture is transcribed) carries the colourful harmonies, strong melodic threads and connecting flourishes that stamp both pieces. The aria is alluded to in the Overture several times, which as you would expect, is intricately woven with the hints themes later to be established in the Opera. It has a kind of 'jazzy' freedom, and it's always miraculous to me that composition so involved can retain its musical line, here done in Strauss's inimitable way. Standard Music Reading for Beginning Guitar was developed as a sequential, practical method for learning the basics of standard music notation using acoustic guitar as a vehicle. It is not meant to replace other methods e.g., the learning of popular songs or a music theory component, but as a companion so that students can learn about music as a language while, hopefully, continuing to enjoy guitar playing for years to come.
