Written in 1910 and dedicated to the music students of Morley College, Gustav Holst wrote Christmas Day for choir and a sizable orchestra to perform a series of old Christmas carols. Themes and variants of In Dulci Jubilio (Good Christian Men Rejoice), God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, The First Nowell, and Come Ye Lofty, Come Ye Lonely are interwoven throughout the piece with Holst's clever craftsmanship, and although the composer and his heirs thought little of the work, it has enjoyed popularity as a seasonal choir piece. This setting revises the original orchestral/choir version note for note for the modern concert band with no concessions made except for some slight key shifts in consideration for band. This composer also likes featuring neglected sections, when possible, so the opening alto solo is arranged for a lone tuba to take before the piece opens up for everyone else.

The Hallelujah Chorus from George Frideric Handel's Messiah has been a significant part of my musical journey, starting with my high school choir's annual holiday performances. Now, as an educator, I’m proud to continue this tradition with my own students. This arrangement for Concert Band and Choir allows us to explore the piece in a new way, blending the familiar choral lines with the dynamic power of a full band. Handel composed the Messiah in just 24 days in 1741, and the Hallelujah Chorus quickly became one of its most iconic pieces. Tradition has it that King George II was so moved during the London premiere that he stood up, leading the audience to follow suit—an act that began the custom of standing during the chorus that continues to this day. The last of his Three German Dances was most likely composed for a ball in Vienna's Imperial Court, and like many artists today, Mozart took a just add sleigh bells approach to creating a wintry atmosphere. Sleigh rides were a popular winter pastime in Vienna during Mozart's time, and it is said that the composer wrote this piece to mimic the sensation of going up and down the snow-covered hills on an 18th century sleigh.

This classic Christmas tune was famously performed by Stevie Wonder. This arrangement was inspired by the John Legend cover and the original. It features a soloistic Vibes part that will showcase your best mallet player. The alto sax is showcased with the melody throughout most of the chart. No matter the size of your group, this Christmas classic is sure to delight an audience of any age. Written for a full wind ensemble, this chart is at home in any venue. Many of the parts are single parts, and the doubling is done to facilitate performance by any number of differing instrumentations. The opening build is marked in the tuba part to add players every 4 bars. It is recommended that the tuba part be split across the section to allow individual players to get a rest. There is an optional bass part to supplement the tuba, bari sax, and bass clarinet if one is available. The optional bass clef marimba part also doubles the bass line throughout.
