Soprano voice solo, tenor voice or baritone voice solo, ATB choir, and piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.56-0054-E Composed by Howard Goodall. Lent, Triduum/Three Days, Tenebrae. Instrument part. 13 pages. Duration 5 minutes, 36 seconds. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #56-0054-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.56-0054-E). English.Arranged for SATB choir, two keyboards, strings, and optional harp, with soprano, tenor (optional) and baritone soloists, this fresh and unorthodox interpretation reflects on the words of the Latin Mass by juxtaposing them with poems in English. This movement has no soprano part, it is soloist above and ATB below, giving a rich, dark quality to the music. The tenors and basses (divisi) begin this movement, declaiming “Dies irae, dies illa.†Two soloists begin in the “Flanders fields†text above. There is an option for three soloists as the piece evolves. (Soprano, tenor and baritone, the composer gives some options for this.) Soon the choir takes up the poem, yet the Latin text occasionally appears and continues, moving toward a climax on the text “We are the Dead, Short days ago We lived.†As the music descends from the high point, the English poem continues, with the choir very softly commenting “Dies irae†as the movement ends. Duration 5:36.

English.

Emotions from intense anger to morbid despair are conveyed through this powerful vocal work depicting the viewpoints of poets from the Great War. . Mark-Anthony Turnage's 'The Torn Fields' sets the words of Rudyard Kipling, Wilfred Owen, Isaac Rosenberg and Charles Sorley. the latter two of whom were killed in the trenches. .Despite the dark nature of the work, it concludes with a symbol of humanity and hope, the music from the prologue returns with the poem Everyone Sang to creating a unified transcendence away from the fears and desolation of the torn fields.

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.776016 Composed by David Warin Solomons. A Cappella,Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Instructional,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2036509. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.776016). This setting for Christmas represents the cold of a Northern winter (the cruel wind blows) although of course the actual events took place in rather warmer climes. It also reflects much of the liturgical and popular symbolism of the Christmas season: robins, holly etc and it brings our thoughts towards the season of Easter with the blood of Good Friday. A robin brought some holly all covered with snow. The cruel wind blows. From each little berry fell drops of blood, Which covered the earth where the Virgin once stood. The cruel wind blows. Dark was the sky when Angels came to stay, They brought old lanterns to lead the way. The cruel wind blows. Candles brightly shine for all to see, They glow tonight through the ageing year. Tender are the lilies as soft as her gown And white are the ringlets that fall to the ground. Mary with her child upon this Winter night, She walked through the darkness with yellow candle light. North winds blow across the fields, But only one child continues to dream. The cruel wind blows The cruel wind blows. ©Tom Clarke Buying this file gives the right to print six copies of the music score.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522333 Composed by Unknown - traditional. Arranged by Paul A. Jorg. Christian,Spiritual,Traditional. Octavo. 4 pages. Paul A. Jorg #5869331. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522333). This song is public domain, written in the 1850's, during a time - pre-civil war - when the nation was being torn apart. The writer calms his anxiety by holding on to God's promises. Here are some lyric notes: I am a poor, wayfaring stranger - Wayfaring: traveling especially on foot; peripatetic country preachers; a poor wayfaring stranger. Wandering through this world of woe - Matthew 18:7: Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! And there's no sickness, toil or danger - John 11:4: When he heard this, Jesus said, This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it. Ecclesiastes 2:18-19: I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. Acts 14:22: strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God, In that bright land to which I go - James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.I'm going home to see my Father - John 6:40 - For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. I'm only going over Jordan - Joshua 22:4: Now that the LORD your God has given your brothers rest as he promised, return to your homes in the land that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side of the Jordan. Yet though dark clouds will gather round me - 2 Corinthians 12:10: That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. I know my way is rough and steep - Psalm 16:11: You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Proverbs 15:24: The path of life leads upward for the wise to keep him from going down to the grave. But beauteous fields lie just before me - Numbers 13:25: We arrived in the land you sent us to see, and it is indeed a magnificient country, a land flowing with milk and honey. Where God's redeemed their vigil's keep - Exodus12:42: Because the LORD kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the LORD for the generations to come. I'm going home to see my mother - Mark 10:29-31: I tell you the truth, Jesus replied, no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields-and with them, persecutions.

B-Flat Clarinet Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1115332 By Vladimir Vlaev. By Vladimir Vlaev. Arranged by Vladimir Vlaev. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 14 pages. Vladimir Vlaev #717137. Published by Vladimir Vlaev (A0.1115332). Concert piece for clarinet and live processing of the clarinet sound (live electronics).E profundo is an experimental piece for amplified clarinet and live electronics / live processing. Therefore, the part of the electronics does not exist as a separate sound file, but it is created during the performance of the piece as particular sounds played by the clarinet player are captured by the microphone and then processed, layered and played back. The timing of each new step/preset is decided and triggered by the performer. A second performer/projectionist behind the mixer (usually me - the composer) takes care for the balance between the live and the processed part, as well as for the balance between the layers of the processed part. The piece is an exploration of the timbral capabilities of the clarinet enriched by its digitally processed counter part. E profundo is a sound story which begins in the dark deepness and travels through the entire range of the instrument to reach the fields of noise, where it gradually returns to pitched and harmonious sound.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841250 Composed by Chris Gordon. Contemporary. Octavo. 18 pages. Cool Wind Music Digital #3029087. Published by Cool Wind Music Digital (A0.841250). A setting of a very powerful poem by English poet, Ted Hughes, about the onset of autumn in an English (Yorkshire) garden and the surrounding countryside. It is full of pathos and passion, harmony and dissonance, chaos and peace - just like English weather! This is a very individual and innovative choral setting of Hughes' poem which is, itself, rich in 'meaty' metaphor and colour - and the composer is a vegetarian! It evokes a savage Nature within a savage landscape where humans and animals compete for space and for food. It is October, the fields and woods and gardens of rural Yorkshire are readying themselves for the cold and desolation (and despair) of winter which isn't far away in time. 'A glass, half-filled with wine, left out(side) To the dark heaven all night, by dawn Has dreamed a premonition of ice across its eye as if the ice-age had begun its heave.' That is only two and a half stanzas but you see from these lines that there are veiled threats of (Nature's) violence in the heavy tread of the poet's slowly-building angst over what is happening in the surrounding countryside - and his fear grows, and his awe grows, with every line. There is even fear underlining the very last line: 'And now it is about to start.' Winter is creeping closer and closer towards the house and it will not be pleasant to experience!I have tried to instil a little of this in the music which keeps skidding from consonance to dissonance and back to consonance. Sometimes the dissonance piles up, like snow driven by the wind piles up into deep banks; sometimes the music relaxes into stillness and calm (painted in tonal music) like a crisp, mild late autumn or early winter's day when the sun warms the landscape and life appears bearable, tolerable. I hope this adds to the song's 'charm'. It wasn't easy to write: sometimes the right music was elusive. The music ends with the word 'October' repeated three times, with voices overlapping in a little canon. This conjures up the wistful feelings of the poet as he looks out onto a peaceful scene, soon to be filled with all manner of 'natural violence', while his inner peace will soon be shattered by the mayhem about to be unleashed around him.Setting Ted Hughes is no easy task. It is for choirs and choirmasters to judge if I have succeeded in conveying the 'sense and sensibility' of a classic 20th century English poem. The price is for one copy: please purchase a sufficient number of scores if you intend to perform this work. SMP Press offers discounts for multiple-copy purchases.

English. Words by John Wesley. Psalms 27, Psalms 31, Psalms 32, Psalms 55, Psalms 61, Psalms 91, Isaiah 35:4, Isaiah 41: 10-14, Isaiah 43 1-13, John 14:1-4, 2 Corinthians 1: 3-5, 2 Corinthians 4: 8-10, 2 Corinthians 4: 16-18.Jesus, Lover of My Soul is a darkly beautiful setting of what has been called English hymnist, Charles Wesley's finest hymn. With optional obbligato instrument included, additional instrumental parts and accompaniment track available, this anthem is appropriate for worship throughout the year. Though unsubstantiated, the story behind this hymn is intriguing. One day as Wesley was preaching in the fields of the parish of Killyleagh, County Down, Ireland, men who disagreed with his doctrine attacked him and Wesley was forced to flee. Finding a hiding place in a hedge near a small brook, with the cries of his pursuers all around him, Wesley was said to have composed this hymn.

Vincent (Starry, Starry Night) is a song by Don McLean, written as a tribute to Vincent van Gogh.McLean wrote the lyrics in 1971 after reading a book about the life of Van Gogh. It was released on McLean's 1971 American Pie album; the following year, the song topped the UK Singles Chart for two weeks, and peaked at No. 12 in the United States, where it also hit No. 2 on the Easy Listening chart. Billboard ranked it as the No. 94 song for 1972.Lyrics:StarryStarry nightPaint your palette blue and greyLook out on a summer's dayWith eyes that know theDarkness in my soul.Shadows on the hillsSketch the trees and the daffodilsCatch the breeze and the winter chillsIn colors on the snowy linen land. And now I understand what you tried to say to meHow you suffered for your sanityHow you tried to set them free. They would not listenThey did not know howPerhaps they'll listen now.StarryStarry nightFlaming flo'rs that brightly blazeSwirling clouds in violet haze reflect inVincent's eyes of China blue.Colors changing hueMorning fields of amber grainWeathered faces lined in painAre soothed beneath the artist'sLoving hand. And now I understand what you tried to say to meHow you suffered for your sanityHow you tried to set them free.Perhaps they'll listen now.For they could not love youBut still your love was trueAnd when no hope was left in sight on that starryStarry night. You took your lifeAs lovers often do;But I could have told youVincentThis world was neverMeant for oneAs beautiful as you.StarryStarry nightPortraits hung in empty hallsFrameless heads on nameless wallsWith eyesThat watch the world and can't forget.Like the stranger that you've metThe ragged men in ragged clothesThe silver thorn of bloody roseLie crushed and brokenOn the virgin snow. And now I think I know what you tried to say to meHow you suffered for your sanityHow you tried to set them free. They would not listenThey're notList'ning stillPerhaps they never will.

Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.OMW202). 9 x 12 in inches. This piece was commissioned by Georges Vilson and The Kandelab Foundation. Kandelab seeks to bring awareness to Haitian Folk and Vodou music. Vilson's book, Kandelab: 101 Notated Haitian Folk and Vodou Songs are transcriptions of this music that has otherwise been handed down through an aural tradition. Vilson's descriptions of the tales that go with these melodies were a great help in setting the tone of this work. Many thanks to Vilson and Kandelab for introducing me to these wonderful melodies and rich cultural heritage. Minis Azaka is known as the great Minister of Agriculture in Haitian Vodou. Iwa peasants bring grievances to him and also reach out to him for prosperity. An invitation is made to a gathering along the countryside and this piece introduces a dignified Minis Azaka entering a hall adorned for his arrival. His followers trail behind him. He sits to listen to their gripes, but also joins them in dance as he isalso a well known dancer. He exits with the same reverence he entered, then disappears into the fields with his entourage. This piece expresses a veil of mystery and darkness setting the tone of great honor and respect. The Nago drum reference is included with the parts. The pattern should be played in reference to the slash marking in the score. The reference is meant as a guide and liberty may be taken with the pattern.

Living much of her life in isolation, Dickinson's thoughts often ventured into the shadowlands of existence. This poem, published posthumously in 1890, offers a chilling reflection of her contemplation. The Grim Reaper, a timeless symbol, is portrayed as a carriage driver, guiding the reader through a somber journey that mirrors the ephemeral nature of life. Passing scenes of childhood innocence, maturity's labor, and the twilight of existence, it culminates in the cold embrace of the grave. Her words, etched in a gothic darkness, resonate with the uncertainties and fears of her time, transcending to speak to the eternal human condition.
