En el marco de las celebraciones patronales, la banda filarmónica municipal ofrecÃa una magistral participación, en la que mi padre era un integrante activo. Uno de los eventos más destacados era el jaripeo tradicional en diciembre, donde la banda interpretaba esta pieza para enriquecer el espectáculo de los jinetes regionales. A pesar de ser una pieza favorita tanto del público como de los jinetes, el tÃtulo y el compositor de la obra permanecieron en el anonimato. En este arreglo, se le dio el nombre de Jaripeo Son Mixe, ya que el son es un género musical para bailar, mixe hace referencia a las diversas comunidades de la región que hablan la lengua mixe y jaripeo por las reminiscencias asociadas a esa época. Sin embargo, es importante mencionar que este son es una pieza musical para bailar y no necesariamente se utiliza en el contexto del jaripeo.

It's Beginning To Look Like Christmas-Arranged for Brass Quintet by Jari Villanueva ?It?s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas? written in 1951 by Meredith Willson was originally titled ?It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas.? The song has been recorded by many artists, but was a hit for Perry Como and The Fontane Sisters with Mitchell Ayres and His Orchestra on September 10, 1951. Bing Crosby recorded which was also widely played. It was later incorporated into the pre-Broadway version of the score of Willson?s 1963 musical ?Here's Love? and can be heard on that show?s original cast recording, where it is sung in counterpoint to a new melody and lyric, ?Pinecones and Holly Berries.? Johnny Mathis recorded the song for his 1986 album Christmas Eve with Johnny Mathis. This version gained popularity after its inclusion in the 1992 film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. This skillful arrangement by Jari Villanueva captures the flavor of the original tune and would be a great selection for a holiday concert or as a special presentation around Christmas. Goin' Home For Brass Quintet (also called Going Home) Based on the Largo from the New World Symphony By Antonin Dvorak Arranged by Jari Villanueva Score 2 Trumpets in Bb Horn in F (Eb Alto Horn) Trombone (Baritone TC) Tuba Substitute parts for Alto Horn and Baritone TC provided "Goin' Home," is based on the Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's famous "Largo" theme from his Symphony No. 9 (5) (From the New World), Op. 95. His symphony was composed while he was in America and was first performed by the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall on December 16, 1893. It has been said that Dvorak's themes in his symphony were inspired by American folk melodies, especially Afro-American or American Indian. But his themes are just as similar to Bohemian folk music and most likely from that music. This arrangement is based on the one played in the movie ?Clear and Present Danger? by the United States Air Force Band. It has been used at presidential funerals for the departure ceremonies at Andrews Air Force Base for Presidents Reagan and Ford and was used in 1998 for the dis-interment ceremony for the Vietnam Unknown at Arlington National Cemetery. It is still used today by military bands at Arlington. Jari Villanueva earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Music from Kent State University, Ohio. He retired from the US Air Force Band in Washington DC where he spent 23 years as a trumpeter, bugler and staff arranger. He started his publishing company JV MUSIC in 1995. A student of Bill Holcombe, he continues writing for different ensembles and his arrangements are played by bands, brass ensembles and brass quintets all over the country. He is the winner of the 2016 Sheet Music Plus Arranging Contest and 2016 Holiday Arranging Contest.
