Avec des chansons comme In the Navy, Macho Man et l’incontournable Y.M.C.A., le groupe connaît un succès mondial et devient emblématique de la musique disco.

Fondato nel 1977 da Jacques Morali e Henri Belolo, il gruppo Village People si contraddistinse per l’originalit quasi politica del suo concetto artistico che intendeva denunciare il non-riconoscimento delle minoranze. Con canzoni come In the Navy, Macho Man e l’indimenticabile Y.M.C.A., il gruppo conobbe un successo mondiale.
