La Oracion del torrero para cuarteto de cuerda. In the pantheon of 20th century Spanish composers: I. Albeniz M. De Falla E. Granados and the Catalan F. Mompou Joaquin Turina was the only one to devote a considerable part of his compositional talents to chamber music. Like each of the aforementioned composers he lived and studied music in Paris where he was encouraged by the likes of D’Indy Ravel and Debussy. In this brief tone poem for string quartet La Oración del Torero 'The Bullfighter’s Prayer' the influence of Debussy can be heard especially in the use of lush descending parallel ninth chords. The influence of music of the Andalusian Gypsies is also quiteevident. This piece became one of the composer’s most popular works often performed in an arrangement for string orchestra.

Opus post. 163 D 956. Parts only.No music lover can remain untouched by the emotional quality of this work composed in Schubert's last year. The monumental weight of the outer movements the intimate lyricism of the'Adagio' as well as the unusual timbre ensure the uniqueness of this quintet. An additional cello which takes on an essential melodic role joins the classical string quartet. The editor of this Urtext edition Egon Voss notonly does justice to the difficult source situation; with new and convincing solutions for difficult page turns he also takes into account the demands of musical practice.

Ed. Critica A. Borin. Par VIVALDI ANTONIO. Casa Ricordi Milano in partnership with Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venezia (Istituto Antonio Vivaldi). Critical edition by Alessandro Borin. The six Concerts op. VI for violin, strings and continuo by Antonio Vivaldi were published in Amsterdam by Roger in 1719. Although the contribution of Vivaldi was probably modest – even to assume that the collection was published without the composer’s assistance and perhaps even his agreement - these six compositions mark a decisive step towards the definition of the classic Vivaldi Concerto, a change evident both from the systematic adoption of the three-movement plan and from the absence of any supplementary solo parts beyond the principalviolin. This critical edition is based on the first edition of Opus VI and its reprints, but takes also into consideration all the sources of single concertos printed into anthologies or transmitted in manuscript form (Wiesentheid and Dresden). The information gathered through the comparative analysis of the manuscript and the printed traditions of Vivaldi’s Opus 6 has permitted us to reconstruct the links among the sources, to clarify some problematic editorial decisions and formulate new hypotheses on the genesis and the intrinsic nature of the collection as a whole. / Niveau : Intermédiaire à Avancé / Classique / Répertoire / Violon, Ensembles de Cordes et Basse Continue
