Historien er Jules Vernes frit bearbejdet af komponist og sangskriver Thomas Bo Borchersen i samarbejde med sanger forfatter og instruktør Tine Olsen. I hæsblæsende fart må Phileas Fogg nå Jorden rundt for at vinde et væddemål men der bliver alligevel tid til at dvæle ved de mange oplevelser og personer som støder til selskabet på vejen. Historien er fortalt i 15 sange og kædet sammen af dialog såhele ensemblet kan folde sig ud i denne udødelige klassiker. Materialet består af: Partitur orkesterstemmer sanghæfte (med vedlagt cd) korhæfte og dialoghæfte. Fra forordet: Det musikalske/pædagogiske sigte med musicalen:Hovedformålet med Musicalen er at vise bredden i musikskolen og forsøge at skabe nogle nye unikke muligheder for samarbejde mellem lærer og elevgrupper i det nye musikskolemiljø der er opstået efter musikskolesammenlægningerne. Vi mener at der er et stort og stadigt voksende behov for at samle musikskolen i store fælles projekter dels for at forbedre infrastrukturen i musikskolen men også for at få den helt nødvendige kommunikation til samfundet omkring musikskolen. Vi mener der et et stort behov for at få synliggjort arbejdet med talentmassen på musikskolerne og at store kompetent udførte projekter ofte er en mangelvare på mindre og halvstore musikskoler. - Musicalerne egner sig selvfølgelig til at blive opført på alle musikskoler - store som små men er især tænkt som en særlig oplagt mulighed for at få samarbejde imellem musikskolerne igang på tværs af kommunegrænserne.

Score-John Jacob Niles' I Wonder As I Wander arranged for Orchestra.This Christian folk hymn was inspired by a song heard by Niles at a fundraising meeting for evangelicals which he attendedin Murphy North Carolina. Niles wrote of the moment he first heard the tune:'A girl had stepped out to the edge of the little platform attached to the automobile. She began to sing. Her clothes wereunbelievable dirty and ragged and she too was unwashed. Her ash-blond hair hung down in long skeins.... But best of all she was beautiful and in her untutored way she could sing. She smiled as she sang smiled rather sadly and sang only a single line of a song'.Niles requested that the girl repeat the fragment seven times paying her a quarter per performance and left with 'three lines of verse a garbled fragment ofmelodic material—and a magnificent idea'. He completed his composition on October 4 1933 and I Wonder As I Wander was first performed on December 19 1933 at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown North Carolina.This melodic arrangement by Michael Brown offers an opportunity for every group of instruments to shine making it an excellent choice for school concerts or showcases.

I Give You The End Of A Golden String was commissioned in 2013 by the Royal Philharmonic Society/Britten-Pears Foundation to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Benjamin Brittenand the bicentenary of thefoundation of the Royal Philharmonic Society.The piece was first performed on 8th June 2013 by the Britten Sinfonia conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth.'My aim when I began this piece was to create a long length ofstring music out of a single strand of melody.While experimenting at the beginning shaping and extending a melody in many possible directions I cameacross William Blake???s lines???I give you the end of a goldenstring;Only wind it into a ball It will lead you in at Heaven???s gate Built in Jerusalem???s wall???and this became my working method winding a single tune around itself so that it gradually formed itselfinto amuch richer more complex texture. The process happens three times producing the equivalent of acontinuous three-movement concerto.The ???first movement??? is engendered by two solo violas (the melody at the beginning alreadyentwined witha slightly alternative version of itself). The ???slow movement??? (a more extended more decorated developmentof the opening tune) is introduced by a solo cello (soon winding itself into a quartet of celli). The fast???finale??? led by two solo violins focuses on decorations within the melody rolling out ribbons of (Britten-like') thirds.' - Judith WeirSuggested minimum strings: 8.6.4.4.2 players

Par LARSSON LARS-ERIK. Norge i rødt, hvitt og blått ('Norway in Red, White and Blue') was commissioned by the Oslo Fagott Choir (yes, that is indeed a gay men?s choir) for a concert with The Staff Band of the Armed Forces in 2015. I was given artistic licence to write a more modern and somewhat ?eclectic? arrangement for this originally Swedish melody written by Lars-Erik Larsson, which became something of a national liberation anthem when Nazi occupation ended in May 1945 ? then with new lyrics by Finn Bø, Bias Bernhoft and Arild Feldborg. After the premiere in Oslo, and a music video with Oslo Fagott Choir and The Staff Band, broadcasted by Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) on Constitution Day during coronavirus lockdown in 2020, I was approached by many to write an instrumental version of the arrangement for concert band.
