NOUVELLES ETUDES Piano solo Peters
Partitions classique / Piano - instruments à clavier / Piano / EDITION PETERS

Par HENSELT ADOLPH. The composer and pedagogue Adolph von Henselt (1814?1889) can truly be considered one of the founding fathers of the Russian School of piano playing. He counted among his pupils Nicolai Sergeyvich Zverev, the teacher of Rachmaninoff and Scriabin. Rachmaninoff considered Henselt?s Etudes the equal of those by Liszt and Chopin for their great beauty. Henselt?s music was well-known in his time, and in the repertoire of the greatest virtuosos of the 19th century, including Clara Schumann (who premiered his F minor Concerto with Mendelssohn conducting), Franz Liszt, Hans von Bülow, Vladimir de Pachmann and Alexander Scriabin. The two sets of Etudes Opp. 2 and 5 were composed just before Henselt moved permanently to Russia and each set was originally published as two books of six études. This new Edition Peters Urtext edition collects each set in its own volume, together with, in volume 1, a selection of Henselt?s Exercices préparatoires and, in volume 2, two additional etudes. It is edited by Daniel Grimwood, one of the composer?s most highly regarded interpreters, whose recording of the complete Etudes is available from Edition Peters Sounds. This is the only available modern Urtext edition of these important piano works. / Date parution : 2023-06-01/ Etude / Piano

Specially produced in association with the Beethoven-Haus Bonn for the 250th Anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth this souvenir collection of some of his most famous pieces and movements allows us to rediscover the joy of experiencing the full range of his music in the home and through our fingers just as millions of amateur musicians got to know and love this music in the days before recordings. The volume contains original works for piano such as the ever-popular Für Elise and expert arrangements of orchestral movements such as the first movement of the Fifth Symphony and the Ode to Joy from the Ninth Symphony. Beautifully illustrated and with introductions to all pieces this handsome book comes in a practical landscape format. Edition Peters enjoyed a close working relationship with Beethoven as the original publisher of his First Symphony among other works. The book also tells the fascinating story of the connection between Edition Peters and the most famous portrait of Beethoven by Joseph Karl Stieler.

Par CHOPIN FREDERIC. The Complete Chopin ? A New Critical Edition from Edition Peters is firmly established as the most important ongoing scholarly edition of Chopin\'s music and is a must for any discerning pianist. The world?s foremost Chopin editors, under Editor-in-chief John Rink, bring their unrivalled collective knowledge to imbue the project with unique authority, drawing upon the latest international scholarship. The Complete Chopin prioritizes the needs of the practical pianist and provides a beautifully presented performing text of each work based on a single principal source together with important variants, along with thorough critical commentaries and illuminating prefatory essays in English, French and German. Chopin\'s early Nocturne in E-flat major is one of his most popular works. First published in 1832, it has a charming, vocally-inspired melody in the treble with a serenade-like accompaniment in the left hand. Edited by leading Chopin scholar, Christophe Grabowksi, this volume presents two versions of the Nocturne: one based on the most definitive impression of the French first edition released during Chopin?s lifetime, the second a pioneering compilation of all the variants to have flowed from Chopin?s pen after the work was first completed. This second text allows pianists to create their own versions of the Nocturne by combining variants as they wish, thereby drawing inspiration directly from Chopin\'s boundless imagination. Edited by leading Chopin scholar, Christophe Grabowksi, as part of the Edition Peters series The Complete Chopin (series editors: John Rink, Jean-Jacques Eigeldinger, Jim Samson, Christophe Grabowski). Ground-breaking format, presenting both an Urtext reading and a version with all variants attributable to Chopin, allowing pianists to create their own version. / Date parution : 2022-07-28/ Répertoire / Piano

The Complete Chopin prioritizes the needs of the practical pianist and provides a beautifully presented performing text of each work based on a single principal source together with important variants, along with thorough critical commentaries and illuminating prefatory essays in English, French and German. Chopin?s etudes occupy a central position in piano literature. Prized by generations of the greatest pianists as the supreme examples in the genre, their reputation rests on their not only challenging specific aspects of a pianist?s technique, but also for being great music, transcending the genre of mere ?study?. In this edition of opus 10 (the earlier of Chopin?s two sets of studies, ending with the famous \'Revolutionary\' etude), pianist and musicologist Roy Howat presents a new edition which addresses many of the misunderstandings created by a very poorly engraved first French edition (containing errors which were then carried over to the German and English editions) ? an edition which nevertheless included many important revisions made at proof stage. Using this first French edition as a primary source, Howat produces an Urtext edition which, while recording noteworthy variants from a variety of sources, is not a ?conflated? version, but a coherent performing edition in its own right, ideal for all who aspire to play these cornerstones of piano repertoire in an informed way. / Date parution : 2022-09-07/ Recueil / Piano
