Married To A Soldier is a three-part song for SSA Voices with Piano accompaniment. It was written in 1963 by John Clements and dedicated to the Jersey Ladies Choir and their conductor Arthur Lobb. It is a setting of the poem The Pride Of All The Village written in the 1830s by the English poet John Clare (1793-1864).John Clements (1910-1986) was a British composer who wrote both sacred and secular works. His best known work is probably There Is Sweet Music a setting of a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Jeg har valgt i min messe at oversætteteksterne til dansk hvilketgør at værket bådeved indstudering og fremførelse får det speciellenærvær som en umiddelbar forståelse af en tekstaltid vil fremkalde. De fem satser kan opføres enten samlet eller hverfor sig. Satserne har forskellige sværhedsgrader således at Kyrie og Credo er de enkleste at udføre mens de tre øvrige satser stiller større krav bådehvad angår melodik rytmik og harmonik.En stor udfordring ved fremførelsen af messenvil være den obligate orgelstemme som udgør etkoncertant element i forhold til korstemmerne.Orgelstemmen er overordnet akkompagnerende men optræder af og til solistisk på en måde derudfordrer og kontrasterer korstemmerne. Paul Mealor's If Ye Love Me for upper Voices and Organ. Commissioned by St Marylebone Parish Church in memory of Miss Joie Macauley the 900th Anniversary of the parish and the 200th Anniversary of the present parish church; first performed at the parish church by the Choir of St Marylebone Parish Church on 23rd July 2017. 'This is simple beautiful and outstandingly effective. The simple melody is sung unison throughout except for a single two-part chord at the climax with a top G in the upper part (otherwise the top note is E). The organ is rooted with G and C pedal semibreves alternating and the whole piece forms ahuge arc from pianissimo to fortissimo and back to pianissimo.'  - ‘Sunday by Sunday’ Paul Mealor's upper voice setting of the familiar words If ye love me. It offers a gentle unison melody over held chords on the organ building to a climax on the words 'may abide with you' - the emphasis on the pronoun marking out a difference from most other settings.
