A chacun des titres sont associés 2, voire 3 objectifs relatifs aux modes de jeu, aux nuances, à l'habileté digitale, à la maîtrise des doigtés, à la justesse rythmique... Pour exemple, la pièce Bonimenteur est consacrée au tempo rapide, aux mordants, et à la précision des figures rythmiques. Sont également abordés les effets sonores contemporains. La chronologie dans laquelle les morceaux doivent être joués est aléatoire et se fera en fonction des objectifs instrumentaux et musicaux que l'élève souhaite atteindre. En début du recueil, l'auteur rappelle les quelques consignes élémentaires indispensables au bon déroulement du travail quotidien. En fin de recueil figure sur deux pages le tableau des objectifs avec auto-évaluation. Musicalement, une histoire relie toutes ces compositions : Zigana s'appelle en réalité Zeliona. Elle est née en 1876, dans la région des Carpates, en Roumanie, un des pays de l'Europe orientale. Son papa, Sandor était violoniste. Très jeune, la petite a été initiée aux rythmes de son peuple, à l'exubérance des chants de fêtes, à la mélancolie des musiques des anciens. Les yeux de sa maman étaient sombres comme l'ébène. C'est pour cette raison que Zéliona, à 8 ans, a choisi de jouer de la clarinette, cet instrument dont le son l'a immédiatement charmée. Chaque jour elle en a découvert les possibilités et elle s'est perfectionnée sans jamais se lasser. Les enfants, les grandes personnes, l'écoutaient avec admiration... la musique qu'elle faisait naître de son instrument leur allait droit au coeur. Elle a inventé des mélodies pour parler de Tchavoro Le Mannelier, des couleurs du crépuscule, de La Mouche qui la poursuivait par temps de grande chaleur. Puis un jour, une troupe de cirque a croisé son chemin et elle s'est émerveillée des prouesses des jongleurs, du Funambule et du charmeur de serpent. As I sit myself down to write this brief foreword I ask myself can there be music more stirring than these old Cornish folk melodies? Though not Cornish myself (I confess to being born a little further up the road in Bristol) I feel I have spent sufficient time in these 'ere parts to resonate with the sturdy brass band tradition that continues to permeate this incomparably beautiful rugged county. One can almost detect a French 'accent' when listening to the piano music of Debussy and likewise speaking as a lapsed brass player there is undoubtedly something of the Cornish twang about Trelawny when played on a cornet or euphonium. Then again one gets a different yetentirely convincing effect upon hearing these melodies rendered on woodwind instruments; hence with a little gamesmanship on my part I am pleased to see my collection of these fifteen delectable ditties come to fruition in the form of arrangements for treble clef brass instruments (in B flat and E flat) trombone and tuba (bass clef) horn in F flute clarinet and bassoon.While many will find themselves humming the likes of Going up Camborne Hill Lamorna or The Helston Furry Dance even before they have turned to the first page - for these are indelibly intertwined with Cornish culture I wonder if I might draw your attention to The Cornish Squire The Pool of Pilate and Cold Blows the Wind Today Sweetheart which are quite simply sublime melodies perhaps needing that extra bit of help in bringing them to mind nowadays. In the best tradition of musical hand-me-downs Cornish folk music works equally ideally sung and played and only by doing so on a regular basis can such traditions hope to continue forward with vigour and authority. A legitimate way of achieving this is to revitalise the harmonic scheme of these ancient tunes and bring them up to date for a modern audience; after all it was such an approach that fuelled the imagination of Benjamin Britten and Ralph Vaughan Williams in decades past while skilfully paying homage to the

From the composer: 'The word 'subconscious' came from the book 'The Aesthetic Unconsciousness' by Jacques Rancière. The 'light' of this piece comes from an accidental feeling that I try to grasp but is elusive... It seems that neither 'subconscious' nor 'light' can directly feel its concrete existence in music, and the connection between them seems indistinctive or ambiguous. To express the feeling of the relationship between these two concepts in my mind, I used my work to compose a world, deconstructed, extracted and reconstructed the integer multiple harmonics of note D in the writing process, therefore, condensing them into the pitch material of this piece and cast them on the dynamic textures. These textures take a large portion of the whole music, constantly evolving under control, which can be viewed as the intention of grasping something. Par GADE JACOB. Jalousie is a tango written by Danish composer Jacob Gade in 1925, originally scored for full orchestra. It soon became popular around the world and is today a classic in the modern repertoire, including many arrangements for various instruments and ensembles. This publication is the first for clarinet and piano, arranged by Paula Corley, former Pedagogy Chair for the International Clarinet Association, with piano accompaniment edited by Stephanie Bruning. The work consists of two themes the first a temperamental theme in D minor, followed by a lyrical section in D major, both with a typical tango rhythm. It became Gade\'s most popular and successful work, enjoying numerous radio broadcasts and recordings.
