STILL. LEBEN Organist Eva Feldbc:ek had been asking me for a long time to write for the organ without the use of iron blocks, extra stopping assistants etc .... unusual difficulties that belonged to my earlier organ music. I setmyselfthe task of Miting a ''handier'' kind of music for the organ. Once I had finished STILL. LEBEN, I didn't think I had achieved what I was looking for. True, the two movements did not involve odd things, but handy isn't really the word for them either. So I wrote the three movements in COUNTERMOVE to tidy up even more. And since I didn't think that was enough either, I wrote the really simple pieces under the title IN TRIPLUM. The three series(eight pieces in all, 2 + 3 + 3) sound very different, but they all take their point of departure from the nature and tonal resources ofthe organ. Everywhere there is polyrhythm or hierarchical layering, polychromaticism, diatonics and melody (the last of these only sparingly and in some of the movements). Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen.

The Temple Organist is a series of hymn arrangements designed to support the sacred reverence found in temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The songs selected for the two volumes have been taken directly from approved lists of hymns appropriate for temples. The arrangements in this volume, like volume 1, are arranged to include the harmonizations from the 1985 hymnal, with a variation that follows in most cases. True to the style of Orgain Chains, they include interludes to connect each hymn so they can be played consecutively (including modulations that bridge different keys beautifully). You will enjoy serving temple patrons as you play these simple, contemplative hymn settings.Contents Include:Oh, May My Soul Commune with TheeNearer, My God, to TheeO My FatherI Need Thee Every HourJesus, Lover of My SoulMore Holiness Give MeGuide Me to TheeDid You Think to Pray?Sweet Hour of PrayerHow Gentle God's CommandsWhere Can I Turn for Peace?Be Thou HumbleDearest Children, God Is Near YouBe Still, My SoulLead, Kindly LightSweet Is the Peace the Gospel BringsO Love That Glorifies the SonGod Loved Us, So He Sent His SonHow Great the Wisdom and the LoveWith Humble HeartJesus, Once of Humble BirthIn Humility, Our SaviorThere Is a Green Hill Far AwayI Stand All AmazedSweet Is the WorkCome, Follow MeLove One AnotherDear to the Heart of the ShepherdLord, I Would Follow TheeComposer: VariousArranger: Brent JorgensenDifficulty: Easy.

The origins of Marcel Dupre's Offertoire Il est ne, le divin Enfant lie in a gift from father to daughter. Marguerite (1909-63), a very capable pianist, married in 1948 and moved with her husband to Chevire-le-Rouge, near Angers. The church there had, according to Marguerite, a poor organ and no organist. She agreed to undertake the role, and in anticipation of playing for the Midnight Mass of Christmas in that same year, she asked her father to write a short offertoire in the style of Daquin. Marcel Dupre kindly arranged to have a small organ relocated from their residence in Meudon and the registration instructions in the score match the specification of this instrument. Our edition includes the specification of the Louis Bonn organ as well as minor editorial commentary. We are grateful for permission granted from Marcel Dupre's descendents for permission to make this work available to the general public.

Three Sound-Poems after Paintings by Andreas Willscher (2017) are dedicated to organist Philip Hartmann and the art-loving community of the Pauluskirche in Ulm, Germany. The music is inspired by three paintings by German composer (and artist) Andreas Willscher (b. 1955). The pieces take their musical shapes and colors from the specific details of the paintings. The three paintings represent different styles: a landscape, a religious theme, and an abstract. The first movement, Sonnenfeld (Sun Field), is inspired by a bright painting of the sun illuminating the green field behind the composer's small house in Sainte-Radegonde (Dordogne/Perigord, France). A resplendent and majestic section of full sun harmonies surrounds a middle section with more motion. The second movement, Gebet des Hl. Franziskus (Prayer of St. Francis), is inspired by a painting showing St. Francis of Assisi in prayer. Francis has been a frequent theme in Willscher's music since his appointment at a young age as organist of St. Francis Church in Hamburg. The third movement, Laetare (Rejoice), is inspired by an vibrant abstract painting comprised of bold colors. The alternation of the blocks of rich color are mirrored in the block harmonic shifts in the movement, which is a moto perpetuo, building towards the organ's fullest sounds. A very practical collection for accompanying hymns. Composer Edward Eicker has taken ten familiar and frequently-used hymn tunes and provided each with an artful introduction and a free harmonization, often used for a final stanza. In addition, there is a modulation provided for each tune that takes the hymn up one step. The modulation is followed by the same free harmonization in the new key. This collection provides organists with great flexibility—any one of the four items provided for the hymns can be used by itself or in any combination with the others.

“There is no doubt in my mind about the pedagogical potency of the use of the Swiss Ball for conducting study. This simple device transfers responsibility for teaching from heretoforeused verbal explanations to a new world of instruction that uses body awareness as the primary vehicle.†— James Jordan, Learn Conducting Technique with the Swiss Exercise Ball  Traditional conducting methods rely on how conductors look––not how they feel. James Jordan’s groundbreaking Learn Conducting Technique with the Swiss Exercise Ball takes the study of conducting beyond the mechanics to a higher plane. Using the Swiss Exercise Ball, everyone from the most experienced conductor to the beginner can tie into a state of awarenessthat opens the door to increased musical expression and kinesthetic awareness. With the aid of a Swiss Exercise Ball and the Body Mapping techniques described in this book, conductors can reach a new level of artistic expression and mastery. The Swiss Exercise Ball is available in four sizes from GIA Publications, and each comes with a pump. Choose the ball size based on the height of the conductor: • 45 cm ball, under 5’ tall (G-6575) • 55 cm ball, 5’ to 5’8†tall (G-6576) • 65 cm ball, 5’9†to 6’3†tall (G-6577) • 75 cm ball, 6’3†and taller (G-6578).

Hermann Schroeder (1904-1984) studied with Heinrich Lemacher and Walter Braunfels and became Professor of Composition and Music Theory at the Academy of Music in Cologne. From the end of the 1920s he made an important contribution to the new stylistic developments in organ music His smaller-scale compositions in particular, such as the Preambles and Interludes (1954) or the Little Preludes and Intermezzos (1932, ED 2221) point in new directions: the constraints of form have evidently been helpful in the process of breaking away from Romanticism; clarity and formal precision take the place of monumental grandeur of form. Suitable for concert or liturgical performance.
