for Tuba Bass Saxhorn or Bass Trombone and Piano-To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains one of the most prolific composers for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. His Thème Varié for Tuba Bass Saxhorn or Bass Trombone with Piano accompaniment is an exquisite and unique addition to the repertoire. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. Composed in 1957 Bozza's Thème Varié reflects the composer's ability to compose for a variety of instrumentations. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza's compositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistenly sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.'

Premiered in October 2018 by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, principal tubist David Saltzman as soloist, the Concerto features three movements with a cadenza between the second and third. Adler likens the solo passages in the first movement and cadenza to a singing cantor, an obvious homage to his own father's work in that role. Philip Sparke a composé et dédié cette pièce à Markus Theinert un ami de longue date qui en a assuré la création le 30 avril 2006 à Sigmaringen en Allemagne accompagné par le Brass Band Oberschwaben-Allgäu.L?idée d?un concerto pour tuba a été longuement discutée entre le soliste et le compositeur dont le souci était de créer un véritable concerto développant un matériau parfaitement adapté au rôle solistique de l?instrument sans tomber dans la caricature. Ainsi la partie soliste couvre trois octaves et demie et exploite pleinement les qualitéstechniques et expressives de l?instrument.Tuba Concerto est une composition en deux mouvements joints qui peuvent également être joués séparément. Le premier mouvement débute lentement puis s?accélère progressivement. La cadence annonce la réexposition du matériel thématique initial. Le second mouvement écrit en forme de scherzo semble plus résolu mais chemine vers plus de légèreté. La reprise du matériel thématique initial offre une conclusion efficace et puissante.Ce concerto est également disponible dans une version pour Tuba solo et Brass Band (AMP 173-030) et Tuba solo et Orchestre d'Harmonie (AMP 173-010).

Composed by Roger Boutry Tubaroque is a melodious piece of baroque music for Tuba Bb Bass Saxhorn or Bass Trombone with Piano accompaniment. Quite difficult it would be perfect for advanced players and would work well in a concert. Starting with a small introduction in three measures the first part of the piece begins on a 'Slow Waltz movement' which consists of a main theme with two variations including one played an octave lower. The second part 'Allegretto' is more lyrical and the last one 'Moderato/Allegro' starts like a march to then go back to a more melodious finale. Roger Boutry is a Frenchmusician and contemporary composer who received eight First Prizes at the Conservatoire including composition conducting and Piano. He also won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1954 and some prizes by the SACEM and by the city of Paris. He also got involved as a professor of Harmony and director of Orchestras.

Concertino by Eugène Bozza is a piece for C Tuba or Bb Saxhorn and Piano. Written in two parts this work lasts 17 minutes and is very difficult to execute as a strong endurance and a high level of skill and technique is required. The whole score is in F key with some accidental alterations. Very interesting in term of melody and sonority this piece definitely shows the full Tuba range at its best and is perfect for contests and recitals. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prize for the Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome.He composed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.
