Es kommt ein Schiff, geladen est un célèbre choral allemand du temps de l’Avent, dans lequel la Nativité s’exprime par la métaphore du bateau portant la cargaison divine jusque sur la terre où il jette l’ancre. Daté du début du XVe siècle, ce choral a la particularité d’être à la fois en ternaire et en binaire. Utilisant différentes ornementations, Roland Kernen a réalisé un arrangement de quatre des six strophes du cantique, auxquelles ont été ajoutés un prélude, un postlude et des interludes. Arr. Herman Oldenstijl. Par TRADITIONAL. Crimond ist ein geistliches Lied aus Schottland aus dem Jahr 1836. Fälschlicherweise zunächst einem Geschäftsmann und Amateurmusiker zugeschrieben, stellte sich später heraus, dass die Musik tatsächlich von Jessie Irvine, der Tochter eines Küsters, komponiert worden war. Die schöne Melodie der sonst unbekannten Komponistin gelangte 1929 schließlich in ein schottisches Gesangbuch. Meditation on 'Quem Pastores Laudavere'. Par TRADITIONAL. Carol of the Shepherds is based on the hymn tune 'Quem Pastores Laudavere' which dates back to the 14th century and is widely known throughout the Christian world. Contest March. Par SPARKE PHILIP. Philip Sparke wrote this march for the famous brass band contest held ever year on Whit Friday in Oldham and Saddleworth. Given the competition’s long history (over 120 years), he consciously composed this piece in a very traditional march form.
