Cette transcription a été faite d’après le manuscrit original, ma source étant la version copiée par Anna Magdalena Bach. Les nuances et articulations proposées sont fidèles au manuscrit, autant que possible. Je n’en ai ajouté aucune, afin de donner toute la liberté nécessaire à l’interprétation de cette musique si riche. Les articulations du manuscrit guident les violonistes dans le choix des coups d’archet, à vous de vous en inspirer ou de les modifier à votre guise. Les double-cordes, de même que les accords (joués ‘en arpèges’ par les violonistes), sont reproduites avec des notes en appoggiature ou en arpèges. Je suis conscient que, pour la plupart des clarinettistes, le fait de jouer sur une partition exempte d’indication de tempi, nuances, articulations, respirations, est quelque peu déroutant. C’est justement, selon moi, toute la richesse de cette version proche de l’original. Vous pourrez explorer cette œuvre fabuleuse, affiner votre technique de jeu (certains passages sont particulièrement difficiles) et développer votre propre interprétation. Je vous encourage à écouter des violoncellistes virtuoses interpréter ces fantastiques pièces, vous trouverez l’inspiration et quantité d’idées. Par KOSKELIN OLLI. Energetic and bouncy, Olli Koskelin's Animal II for bass clarinet (2019/2020) is a nine-minute non-stoppable ride. This product is a B4 sized folder, sheet music (performance score) enclosed as loose pages. Olli Koskelin's (born 16 April 1955) compositional output reflects a wide range of interests. The vast area covered by his style encompasses the neo-impressionism of the piano work Courbures (1989) to the post-expressionist echoes of his Music for String Quartet (1981) as well as the breakneck virtuosity of his clarinet piece Exalte (1985/1991) and the rich romantic textures of his orchestral piece ... like a planet silently breathing... (1993). He often uses the overtone series like the French spectral composers and avoids dramatic culmination. Soft harmonics, tranquil arching melodies, a leisurely rhythmical pulse and a coherence of mood are in evidence in his later works as in Uurre (1997) for chamber ensemble, Miniatures (1997) for string quartet and Circles within for 19 solo strings. / Date parution : 2023-01-24/ Répertoire / Clarinette Basse

Exaggeration and theatrical expression are by no means to be avoided on the contrary they are expected!Ideally the dialogue between Alice and the Caterpillar ? which appears throughout this score ? should be projected onto a screen.
