Three Sound-Poems after Paintings by Andreas Willscher (2017) are dedicated to organist Philip Hartmann and the art-loving community of the Pauluskirche in Ulm, Germany. The music is inspired by three paintings by German composer (and artist) Andreas Willscher (b. 1955). The pieces take their musical shapes and colors from the specific details of the paintings. The three paintings represent different styles: a landscape, a religious theme, and an abstract. The first movement, Sonnenfeld (Sun Field), is inspired by a bright painting of the sun illuminating the green field behind the composer's small house in Sainte-Radegonde (Dordogne/Perigord, France). A resplendent and majestic section of full sun harmonies surrounds a middle section with more motion. The second movement, Gebet des Hl. Franziskus (Prayer of St. Francis), is inspired by a painting showing St. Francis of Assisi in prayer. Francis has been a frequent theme in Willscher's music since his appointment at a young age as organist of St. Francis Church in Hamburg. The third movement, Laetare (Rejoice), is inspired by an vibrant abstract painting comprised of bold colors. The alternation of the blocks of rich color are mirrored in the block harmonic shifts in the movement, which is a moto perpetuo, building towards the organ's fullest sounds. Instrumentation: Organ Duration: 11' Composed: 2017 Published by: Zimbel Press.

Two Mantras (2017) are dedicated to Felix Brauer. A mantra is a repeated word or phrase, often chanted or sung in the manner of a prayer. These two organ pieces explore the concept musically, each extensively employing repeated patterns: both direct repetition and repetition with small variation. Meditation (In paradisum) is very quiet and extremely serene. Floating harmonies in the hands gradually shift while a slow line in the pedal slowly descends. Postludium (Deo gratias) sets up a perpetual motion toccata through which the harmonies change and are repeated. Instrumentation: Organ Duration: 10' Composed: 2017 Published by: Zimbel Press.

I. Floral Prelude on Leucanthemum Vulgare; II. Floral Prelude on Zehenspitzen durch die Tulpen; III. Floral Prelude on La Rose Jaune 14 page book Published by: Dunstan House Composer's Note: Organ preludes are frequently heard in religious services as well as organ recitals, but are commonly based on the tunes of hymns or chorales. Adapting the prelude form to tunes of a more secular nature introduces some slightly irreverent humor into the mix. These are called floral preludes rather than choral preludes because each of the tunes includes the name of a flower either in its title or its lyric (Daisy, Daisy give me your answer, do; Tiptoe Through the Tulips, and The Yellow Rose of Texas).

Symphony for Organ (2013) is cast as a dramatic progression from darkness into light. The first movement, Masque, is extremely violent and bleak. The title is used with a touch of irony--for this is not a masque of courtly diversion, but rather a furious struggle against the darkness, played out in a series of dramatic episodes following a Tudor-era formal design. The ending builds to a dramatic peak, and leaves us in shell-shocked silence. The second movement, Sarabande, begins quietly and mournfully, and gradually gains in fervency. A faster middle section is a spinning dance before the return of the opening music. In the coda, the light gradually approaches. The third movement, Chorale, evokes the colors of a new dawn. The music of the first movement's struggle gradually becomes washed in the blaze of morning. Instrumentation: Organ Duration: 21' Composed: 2013 Published by: Zimbel Press.
