They will be carefully studied and prepared according to present-day musicological and editorial techniques and presented in their entirety. Drafts, sketches and fragments, in short, everything that has come down to us as being authentically by Schumann and which, in most cases, has been deliberately preserved by him, will be brought together, evaluated as to its importance and documented in some form or other in the edition of the complete works. It is the aim of the edition to reproduce authentic texts which – having corrected scribal, copying and printing errors and eradicated later additions and other textual corruptions – will approach as closely as is possible the intention of the originals. Par HAENDEL GEORG FRIEDRICH. Imeneo was premièred at Lincoln 's Inn Field in London on 22 November 1740 and given a second performance on 13 December of the same year. Unlike the varied events and convoluted action otherwise typical of opera seria , it has an uncomplicated plot line with a clear dramatic structure and excellent music. The arranger of the libretto is unknown. Handel wrote this opera for his final season in London , but he also revived it in Dublin on 24 and 31 March 1742 as a ' serenata ”. For this revival, presumably a concert performance, he altered the 1740 score. The alterations are listed in the appendix to the vocal score. Kantate zu Exaudi. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. The cantata 'Sie werden euch in den Bann tun', part of Bach's first Leipzig annual cycle of cantatas and the earlier of two compositions of the same name, was probably first performed on the last Sunday after Ascension in May 1724. The text is concerned with suffering and the Antichrist, both of which are overcome by Christian faith. By employing all four ranges in solo capacities Bach creates the greatest possible variety. It opens, unusually, with a duet for tenor and bass, accompanied by two oboes and basso continuo./ Répertoire / Chant
