Description Edward Elgar’s The Dream Of Gerontius is a splendid oratorio for Mezzo-soprano, Tenor and Bass with Chorus and Orchestra. It is based on the epic poem, The Dream of Gerontius by John Henry Newman written in 1865. The original vocal score of Gerontius was actually printed before Elgar's had even finalised or completed his final orchestration and as such it was printed without many of the markings that were added in the later full score. This new edition brings vocal and full scores into agreement for the first time having been authentically and effectively edited by Hywel Davies and Bruce Wood, and also includes helpful notes on the background to the work as well as an outline of the editorial procedure and list of sources. Welcome is a work composed by Edward Gregson, arranged for Upper Voices and Piano. It was originally composed for boys' voices, Organ, Brass and Percussion in 1996, but ten years later Gregson created a new version especially for the Kinder Children's Choir of the High Peak. This latter version appears here, and lasts around 4 minutes.The text of Welcome consists of the word 'Welcome', repeated numerous times in a variety of languages , from English to various European languages, to Hebrew and Arabic. Gregson's idea was to provide a fitting way to welcome a new and diverse audience into a new concert hall designed for a new Millennium.The voices are divided into as many as six parts in certain places, but it's left to the conductor to decide on how to distribute these parts, depending on the size and make-up of the choir. This edition is based on the PWM edition of 2013, which was produced with the assistance of Anna Górecka and Miko?aj Górecki. A special feature of the Boosey publications is the new, alternative Latin sung text by Edward Tambling, which will be attractive to the many choirs who do not wish to sing in Polish. The Latin text is carefully crafted to fit Górecki's score and is both poetic and sensitive to the devotional aspect of the songs. English translations from the Polish are also included, for reference only. The three publications present the songs for sacred use according to devotional subject-matter. In concert performances the songs, or a selection of them, may be performed in any order and combination. Vol 1 contains six songs in praise of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The seven songs in vol 2 take the themes of Good Friday, the Crucifixion, The Cross of Christ and the Resurrection. Singin' In The Rain was already a classic before it featured in the famous 1952 Gene Kelly film musical - Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown wrote it in the 1920s when many artists recorded it, but more notably Cliff Edwards enjoyed success from his recording in 1929. Now forever associated with Kelly's puddle-splashing routine and more recently reprised in stage adaptations, Singin' In The Rain remains an all-time favourite.
