Née en 1965 dans l'état de New York, Kathryn Potter s'est passionnée très tôt pour le hautbois. Ses excellents résultats lors des évaluations annuelles de l'Association des Ecoles de Musique de l'Etat de New York lui ont permis d'obtenir des bourses d'études auprès de professeurs renommés comme Lois Wann à New York, Michael Winfield à Londres et avec Marc Liefschy à San Francisco. Ces enseignements, très divers, ont permis à Kathryn d'acquérir une culture, assez rare, tout à la fois américaine et européenne. Très tôt attirée par la composition musicale, elle a suivi les cours de Karel Husa au collège d'Ithaca (NY) et d'Eleanore Armer au conservatoire de musique de San Francisco dont elle est diplomée. Après avoir enseigné (hautbois, flûte, piano et composition) pendant 18 ans à des élèves de tout âge, elle crée en 2010 la compagnie ' Oboe Brilliance inc ' (le lustre du Hautbois) destinée à développer la joie de vivre dans trois domaines conjoints : Accompagner et guider les hautboïstes Composer de nouveaux morceaux pour hautbois Offrir de nouvelles possibilités d'expression aux fervents du hautbois de maintenant et de demain. / Hautbois / Partition

French oboist Henri Brod (1799-1839) was a performer composer and instrument builder during the early Romantic era. Considered a virtuoso Brod's compilation Studies and Sonatas for Oboe is very well-informed. Brod introduced his own innovations in Oboe design and playing techniques both which are still used to this day. The first volume of Studies and Sonatas for Oboe comprises 40 easy studies and 6 progressive sonatas for beginner to intermediate level oboists. These are in a variety of keys and address features including different rhythms scales breath control phrasing articulation ornamentation accidentals simple and compound time signatures range performance directions and dynamics among other aspects. Brod's wealth of experience and expertise which enabled the composition of Studies and Sonatas for Oboe make it an essential purchase for aspiring players of the instrument.

Music Minus One Oboe-The E-flat Beethoven quintet is a wonderful example of Beethoven at his best. Beautiful sonorities in one of the great classics of chamber music. The Andante is especially beautiful with an almost perfect integration of all the instruments.

Oboe and Piano-'The Sapphire' is dedicated to Heath's daughter Naima Sapphire. On the day she was born in 2000 Heath was walking over the meadows in Edinburgh to see her and could hear bagpipes playing in the distance. That inspired him to write this piece.The melody and over-all style are influenced by Scottish traditional music however the harmonies come from modern jazz.

Oboe Hub is a collection of colourful and quirky new pieces studies duets and trios for bassoons.
