Arrangeur: Charles Salinger. Par TCHAIKOVSKY PYOTR ILYICH. One of the important works likely to appear on any clarinetist's audition list is Tchaikovsky's homage to his music idol, Mozart. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mozart's Don Giovanni, Tchaikovsky chose a number of the master's lesser-known pieces, wrapping them in his own signature arranging and orchestration. Clarinetist Charles Salinger has created his own transposition of the clarinet part for Clarinet in A, now an indispensable tool in the clarinetist's arsenal. Northeastern Music now makes this part readily available./ Répertoire / Clarinette en La

Arrangeur: Michael Drapkin. Par DEBUSSY CLAUDE. A serious clarinetist probably plays, at some point in their career, the famous Debussy Rhapsodie. More often than not, they will play with the piano accompaniment, as Debussy first wrote it. The fortunate few will perform with an orchestra. Drapkin now makes the Rhapsodie accessible for a soloist with string quartet. The solo line is faithful to the original, while the strings handle the accompaniment. Par WEBER CARL MARIA VON / BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. Carl Maria von Weber, great innovator and orchestrator who paved the way for such Romantic giants as Wagner and Liszt, wrote this famous and oft-performed 'little concerto' in 1811. Lovely sonorities, beautiful themes - in short, a great piece for clarinet and orchestra. Also featured in this MMO edition, Beethoven's beautiful, warm-toned Piano Trio No. 4 is a treasure-trove of possibilities for the clarinetist. Lovely themes - young Beethoven at his best! Includes a high-quality printed music score for B-flat clarinet and a compact disc containing a complete version with soloist, in split-channel stereo (soloist on the right channel), then a second version in full stereo of theorchestral accompaniment, minus the soloist. Performed by Keith Dwyer, clarinet Accompaniment: Weber Concertino: Stuttgart Festival Orchestra/Emil Kahn, Beethoven Trio: Richard Mattson, violoncello, Robert Conway, piano/ Répertoire / Divers

Fantasy Pieces For Clarinet And Piano Op. 73

(+)
Robert Schumann wrote his Fantasy Pieces for clarinet and piano in the course of two days in February 1849. Only a few days later they were premiered by Clara Schumann and the Dresden clarinetist Johann Gottlieb Kotte. Initially choosing the title Soirée Pieces for his works, Schumann finally decided to have them published as Fantasy Pieces, thereby emphasizing their poetical aspects. These connotations are also at the centre of clarinetist Elisabeth Eichenberg's notes on interpretation with special reference to the contemporary aesthetics of the clarinet sound. The edition is based on the first edition published in 1849 and also incorporates subsequent corrections in Schumann's personal copy. The compositional manuscript that has survived served as an important corrective. Besides the original clarinet part in A the edition also includes a transposed part for the B clarinet in order to make these standard works of the Romantic clarinet repertoire available to a wider circle of the clarinet community. / Clarinette Et Piano

(+)
Par SPOHR LOUIS. Louis Spohr?s technically, extremely demanding concertos have long been part of clarinetists? standard repertoire. Like the first clarinet concerto, this second concerto was composed for the clarinetist Johann Hermstedt, probably in the spring of 1810. Critics praised the concerto at its premiere, stating that it was ?undeniably one of the most accomplished works of art of its kind.? Emphasized was also the ?great and brilliant treatment of the solo instrument, combined with a very original orchestra accompaniment, where every part, even the timpani, is obbligato.? The concerto was even then a great success with the audience. For publication, Spohr supplemented the solo part with various ossia passages as simplifying alternatives. These can of course be found in the score as well as in the piano reduction presented in Ullrich Scheideler?s new critical Urtext edition in collaboration with G. Henle Verlag, now for the first time in a reliable edition. / Date parution : 2022-10-12/ Répertoire / Orchestre et Clarinette

(+)
Arrangeur: Matt Johnston. Par HERBERT VICTOR. L'Encore is a short vignette originally composed for Flute, Clarinet (in A) and orchestra accompaniment. For this edition with piano reduction, to transpose the A Clarinet part for B-flat Clarinet would put the clarinet in an awkward key, so instead, included in the volume are additional transposed parts for the flute and piano. Thus, the clarinetist will always play off the clarinet part provided, however, depending on the instrument used, the flute and piano will need to play on the properly corresponding part, either in D Major or E-flat Major./ Répertoire / Flûte Traversière, Clarinette et Piano

Brahms J. - Sonatas In F Minor & E-flat Major Op.120 For Clarinet & Piano
Clarinet and Piano

(+)
Brahms had already announced his „retirement“ from composition when in the spring of 1894 he played chamber music with the cellist Robert Hausmann and the clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld. This encounter apparently renewed his enthusiasm for Mühlfeld’s much admired playing and inspired him to write two clarinet sonatas in the summer of the same year. Brahms and Mühlfeld premiered the works and played them in several performances until the sonatas op. 120 were first published in June of 1895. They remain pivotal works in the clarinet’s recital repertoire establishing the clarinet sonata as a distinct and viable chamber music genre. An important part of this edition is the extensive preface. Firstly it informs about the sonatas‘ origins, their compositional process, pre-publication performances, their publication history as well as early reception. Truly remarkable is the unique Performance Practice Commentary. Here the editors start from the premise that already a few decades after Brahms' death, a widening gulf developed between the composer's expectations and the performance practices of the early 20th century. On the basis of manifold sources which include memoirs by pupils and chamber music partners, treatises and essays, early instructive editions and historical recordings, the editors deal with key issues in understanding Brahms' notation. By a section-by-section analysis of rhythm and timing, dynamics and accentuation, dots and strokes, slurring and non legato, piano pedalling and overholding, piano arpeggiation and dislocation, clarinet vibrato and portamento, the editors provide an indispensable assistance for a historically informed interpretation of the work. At the same time, the edition offers an exciting and often surprising insight into musical interpretation of the German Romantic Era in general. - A pioneering Urtext edition - With an extensive Performance Practice Commentary - For further information on Romantic performance practice we recommend the text booklet: “Performance Practices in Johannes Brahms‘ Chamber Music”, BA 9600

Brahms had already announced his ?retirement' from composition when in the spring of 1894 he played chamber music with the cellist Robert Hausmann and the clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld. This encounter apparently renewed his enthusiasm for Mühlfeld's much admired playing and inspired him to write two clarinet sonatas in the summer of the same year. Brahms conceived an alternate version of the works for viola from the beginning and already before the publication of these two versions he intended to do another one for violin, a version which was to require changes and was to result in an independent edition. While the clarinet and viola versions have developed a rich performance tradition, the violin version is almost unknown. Yet for the violin version the composer revised the original clarinet part much more extensively than he did for the viola version and also rewrote the piano part to achieve a thoroughly convincing violin and piano idiom. This Bärenreiter edition aims to bring the neglected violin sonatas op. 120 back into players' hands. An important part of this edition is the extensive preface. Firstly it informs about the sonatas' origins, their compositional process, pre-publication performances, their publication history as well as early reception. This encounter apparently renewed his enthusiasm for Mühlfeld's much admired playing and inspired him to write two clarinet sonatas in the summer of the same year. It remains unclear when exactly Brahms drafted viola parts to his two sonatas. In any case the viola and clarinet versions of the works were first published by Simrock at the same time in 1895. Today there is no doubt about Brahms' authorship of the viola parts. They include important differences from the clarinet original in order to do justice to this string instrument. An important part of this edition is the extensive preface. Par CRASBORN-MOOREN PAULA. This book is perfect for beginning clarinetists to learn to play together from the first lessons. The duets add to the students playing pleasure and motivation: for children they have appealing titles, expressing the musical character of the duets, and catchy tunes in keys C, F and G major. The duets gradually increase in difficulty in rhythm and in technique, starting with five tones in one octave in the first voice (C-D-E-F-G), expanding to tones in multiple octaves. The second voice can beplayed by a more advanced student or the teacher, The book has been extensively tested in practice and gets enthusiastic responses from students. / Date parution : 2023-05-06/ Recueil / 2 Clarinettes
