Le Sacrifice est mon deuxième opéra, écrit pour WNO et a été créée en 2007. Il est basé sur l'une des histoires Mabinogian, une collection d'anciens mythes du Pays de Galles. C'est une histoire d'amour au milieu d'un conflit civil ou clanique, et déboucher sur un acte suprême de l'auto-sacrifice qui guérit finalement la haine communautaire et apporte la paix et d'espoir renouvelé. Dans sa première production qui a placé l'action dans un proche avenir, plutôt que d'un passé mythique.Il ya un certain nombre d'interludes orchestraux qui relient les scènes dans un flux continu dans chacun des trois actes. Trois sont extraits ici pour faire une suite de concert.1) The PartingAprès une assignation finale secret, les deux amants, Sian et Evan se séparent, avant le mariage qui apportera les deux tribus ensemble. Il a été convenu que Sian veut se marier une fois, le chef de l'autre côté. Les deux ont le coeur brisé, mais se sont engagés à faire leur devoir pour sceller la trêve.2) PassacagliaLes clients des deux groupes de belligérants se réunissent pour la fête de mariage. Elle mettra fin à la violence.3) L'investitureSept ans plus tard, une autre tentative est faite pour rapprocher les deux communautés. Gwyn, le jeune fils de Sian et de Mal, est d'être 'couronné', comme un symbole de l'unité souhaitée. Les foules se rassemblent au cours de cette musique. Some passages are harbingers of orchestral composition techniques now well known in film music, while others evoke the music of the heyday of revue theatres. Carl Maria von Weber's fame rests mainly on ?Der Freischütz'. The unprecedented success of this opera overshadowed all his other works and contributed to their increasing fall into oblivion. Certain works such as ?Preciosa', ?Oberon', and ?Euryanthe', the overtures, solo concertos and piano sonatas, the lieder and chamber works enjoyed great popularity and were widely known in Germany and abroad as late as the second half of the 19th century. However, any chance of a revival of Weber's influential and substantial oeuvre was wasted in the 1920s, when a complete edition - begun by Hans Joachim Moser and with potential contributors including Wilhelm Kempff, Hans Pfitzner, Max von Schillings, Fritz Stein and Richard Strauss - failed after the third volume.Ever since there have been numerous attempts to restart a complete edition of Weber's works, but as this kind of project would have required the co-operation of scholars from both sides of the inter-German border, the political situation after 1945 was not conducive to any such enterprise. Careful negotiations led to the first tangible steps in the 1980s. The intention, right from the beginning, was to place Weber's work in context, and not to separate his musical output from his influential work as a writer, critic and organiser in the musical field, but to publish his compositions together with his letters, diaries and other literary output as the best way to document the cross-fertilisation between his musical, literary and practical activities.Since the German re-unification both working-parties concerned - at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, and at the Musikwissenschaftliches Seminar, Detmold/Paderborn - have co-operated on the complete edition of the musical works (c. 45 volumes in 10 series: sacred music - cantatas, odes and other occasional works - stage works - lieder and vocal works - orchestral works - chamber music - music for piano - piano reductions - miscellanea, arrangements and orchestrations - works of doubtful attribution). The diaries (6-8 vols.) are edited in Berlin and the letters (8-10 vols.) and other writings (2 vols.) in Detmold. This complete edition aims to be a reliable basis of scholarly debate as well as for the authentic performance practice of Carl Maria von Weber's music. Conforming to the standards of recent historico-critical editions, the textual material will be based on all available authentic sources, accompanied by a detailed documentation of the genesis and a list of variants for each work. The musicological importance of the works will be evaluated by placing them in their historical context, the presentation of their genesis, history and Critical Commentaries. The letters, writings and diaries will be treated as inter-related and relevant to each other in the commentaries, therefore readers should benefit from a wealth of concise information and cross-references. / Score

Vol. 10 of the Complete Works, articulated in two parts, contains the music found exclusively in manuscript and printed anthologies compiled prior to the great sixteenth-century Venetian composer?s death in 1585. Broadly speaking, Gabrieli?s contributions to collective anthologies fall into the following categories: 1) celebratory compositions, in several cases conceived as individual contributions to madrigal cycles by various composers in honour of more or less prominent Venetian or other personalities; 2) compositions originating in social and cultural circles close to Gabrieli; products of the composer?s habitual interaction with patrons, poets and musicians in mid sixteenth-century Venice, these compositions are published in anthologies containing similar works by other composers in Gabrieli?s milieu; 3) individual madrigals inserted in generic multi-author anthologies. Vol. 10/I features eight compositions on texts in Latin, Italian and ?stradioto? dialect (a linguistic concoction in which words of Greek origin appear against a background of simulated Venetian dialect). These include Gabrieli?s contribution to a Corona of nine sonnets by various composers on the death of Annibale Caro, the celebrated man-of-letters whose production comprises a highly successful Italian translation of Virgil?s Aeneid. The entire Corona is edited in the Complete Works. Gabrieli?s presence in multi-author anthologies follows a predictable pattern. The young composer?s earliest madrigals appear in editions of music by well-established authors (Vincenzo Ruffo, Cipriano de Rore) or collective anthologies edited by enterprising local musicians or other cultural figures (Giulio Bonagiunta, a singer at St Mark?s; the Venetian poet, actor and musician Antonio Molino). Cette date, qui est monumentale pour la musique et le ballet historiographie semblables, marque la percée de l'ère moderne.Pour marquer cet événement, la Fondation Paul Sacher à Bâle qui maintient la succession Stravinsky publie une édition anniversaire en trois volumes: deux fac-similés annotés - la partition autographe ainsi que la version pour piano à quatre mains - et un livre avec des contributions par des chercheurs de pointe. 'Realms of Endless Day' is a fantasy setting of the hymn tune melody, 'Picardy.' This melody, thought to have been named for the region in France where it is believed the melody originated, is also the melody for the hymns 'Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence' and 'Christians, Let Us Love One Another,' as well as the 'Hymn of Saint James.' This enduring and tuneful melody is given three contrasting statements that gradually build to an exciting conclusion. This piece is scored for full orchestra by arranger Michael Kamuf, but will work quite effectively with strings alone. (3:30) / Orchestre
