Now Thank We All Our God arranged by Carl F. Mueller for SATB choir with Piano accompaniment.The melody upon which this harmonization and arrangement is based first appeared anonymously in Praxis Pictatis Melica (1648). The authorship of the melody has been variously assigned to Johann Cruger (1598-1662) Martin Rinkart (1586-1649) and Luca Marenzio (1560-1599).

Tarik O'Regan's Mass Observation was commissioned for the University of Michigan Chamber Choir Jerry Blackstone conductor thanks to support from the William K. and Delores S. Brehm Choral Commissioning Fund and the Barbara Abramoff Levy Fund.   Composer's note:   Mass Observation is a meditation on the histories of our varied ambivalent relationships with surveillance in its myriad guises. The use of technologies that sate our desires to be watchedand heard (safety tracking empowerment and pride) has in some sense always been able to be weighed against our anxieties around invasions of privacy (physical and psychological harm hacking subjugation and embarrassment). The work takes its title from the British social research organisation Mass-Observation which aimed to record everyday life in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1937 Mass-Observation controversially paid investigators to anonymously record people's conversation and behaviour at work on the street and at various public occasions including public meetings sporting and religious events. Scored for chorus and percussion sextet  Mass Observation ebbs and flows between various polarities (human voices and percussion instruments pitched and unpitched sounds clear and opaque tonalities) over the course of its thirteen movements. There is a ritualistic nature to the overall pacing of the work reminiscent of a liturgical mass setting. The two groups of musicians are rarely aligned: for much of the piece they watch and listen to one another in silence.    Duration approximately: 40 Minutes

His compositions embrace choral orchestral and instrumental music and he has edited or co-edited various choral anthologies including four Carols for Choirs volumes with Sir David Willcocks and the Oxford Choral Classics series. From 1975 to 1979 he was Director of Music at Clare College and in 1981 he formed his own choir the Cambridge Singers. He now divides his time betweencomposition and conducting and is sought after as a guest conductor for the world's leading choirs and orchestras.

Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis-Nico Muhly's Second Service (Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis) sheet music arranged for SATB (Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass) Chorus and Organ accompaniment. This piece was originally commissioned by the Choir of Christ Church Christiana Hundred from Delaware USA and was first performed on 19th October 2014 by them. After its various premieres internationally the Second Service was met with resounding warm reviews praising its percussive qualities beautiful melodies and dynamic rhythms. The work is a pleasure to sing especially when beneficial acoustics complement the warmth of the vocalharmonies. Nico Muhly is a composer of many talents lending his skills to a number of diverse genres including Orchestra Choral and even Film Music. This work is arranged for SATB Chorus and Organ accompaniment and lasts around 14 minutes. With this composition Muhly has set the traditional Magnificat also known as the 'Song of Mary' joining the long list of composers who have set this work such as Mozart Tchaikovsky and Schubert. Next comes the Nunc Dimittis similarly a canticle found in the gospel of Luke. The Second Service (Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis) is presented here in an accurate transcription for SATB Chorus and Organ. Audiences will love this innovative and contemporary setting of such traditional words.

According to the research of Diethard Hellmann editor of this edition the motet was originally an a cappella composition by Johann Kuhnau with the text 'Tristis est anima mea' which then was adapted ? most likely by Bach ? with a new text and the addition of instrumental parts. POD Vocal Score-St. Mark Passion is a work by John Joubert for two Tenor and three Baritone soloists SATB Chorus Solo Cello and Organ. First performed in Wells Cathedral on Palm Sunday 20th March 2016 by Wells Cathedral Choir it was commissioned by 'Cathedral Commissions' of Wells Cathedral. A full performance lasts around 45 minutes and this is the Vocal Score. 'The work lasts about 45 minutes and rather like the St. Mark Passion by Charles Wood uses various pre-existant hymns to fulfill a similar function to the chorales in Bach's Passions. The scoring of solo Cello and Organ is skillfully handled so that the quasi-recitativenarrations feature both instruments to varying degrees the Cello often taking lead balancing the inevitably greater presence of the Organ in the hymns. Joubert's choice of hymns is impeccable (plainsong Bach Gibbons...) ending with 'When I survey the wondrous cross' and the idiom of the freely composed sections is given consistency through use of a gently undulating motif to accompany Christ's words (reminiscent of the opening of Vaughan William's Symphony no.5) and a chromatic motif in agitated sections (which happens to be the same as Shostakovich's DSCH theme). Although considerable demands are made on the instrumentalists and lead soloists the choral writing is rarely difficult and could be tackled by many choirs; I have no doubt that the work would be extremely effective in performance.' - Geoffrey Webber Choir & Organ Magazine

Per Nørgård's 2 Nocturnes - for 12 voices (2003) 1. Summer's Sleep (text: Ole Sarvig) 2. Michael's Night (text: Ib Michael) English version. Programme note:These two choral pieces for 12 voices consists of radical recompositions on of earlier themes: in Summer's Sleep we hear new combinations of two 'Sarvig melodies' from the 1970s (one of which is now in the Danish Hymnbook under the title 'Året' The Year); Michael's Night is based on an earlier simple choral song (Star Mirror 1987) now for 12 voices and composed such that an originalidea of 'simultaneously displaced opposite motions' cf. the poem) comes out as desired. Of the Nocturnes Nørgård writes: 'Summer's Sleep was composed to stanzas of Ole Sarvig's poem The Year (from the collection Forstadsdigte ('Suburban Poems')) and forms the picture of 'the summer of life' which is asleep - while the 'heaven seed' waits for the summer wind ('invisible to every mind'). The many layers of text are expressed musically in a multilayered choral texture with 'looks' up and down through the various tempo and time-worlds: summer sleep summer dream. 'The second nocturne Michael's Night takes its name from the author Ib Michael whose poem Star Mirror (from the collection Himmelbegravelse ('Sky Funeral') (1986) I pushed/coaxed him to expand from one to nine stanzas. The four selected stanzas set in the nocturne focus on the pan-erotic elements of the moonlit starlit night. With the titles I have chosen I have stressed the mythic layer of the text the summer night not as a dream but as sensual reality. 'The two nocturnes are dedicated to Ivan Hansen on the occasion of his fiftieth birthday on 25th February 2003 out of gratitude for over a quarter of a century of inspiring collaboration'. Blake Fragments was written for performance in Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic Guggenheim Museum in New York City and calls for the solo voices to be placed in various positions on the concentric rings that rise up from the central rotunda. In subsequent performances this configuration will generally be impossible but the soloist arrangement that was used is included should performers like to respond in some fashion to the original arrangement. The piece may be performed with the four soloists singing within the main chorus though some spacial separation on a single level or additionally using a balcony or backstage might better dupicate the original intentions. To allow fordifferent positions the four solo parts may be sung by more than four choral members (in the premiere there were two different sopranos covering the soprano part.)

Howells' 1955 Mass for Chorus Strings and Organ. Vocal score with keyboard reduction. An English Mass is a concert setting of the ordinary of the Mass in the English translation. Although it concludes with the Gloria as in a Prayerbook Communion service it was designed for concert use and is dedicated to Harold Darke and the St Michael's Singers. The original scoring was for strings and organ but a later version with woodwind and timpani is used this evening of this rarely heard work. Those familiar with the sound of Howells' church music will find the same textures here - long strands of expressive melody supported by rich harmony in thick textures and climaxes oftremendous ecstasy. Like so much of the English choral repertory the work begins and ends quietly achieving maximum intensity at various points in between.

Geistliches Repertoire. Par . With his Hebrew Choral Songbook, Ohad Stolarz presents a new collection of classics of the musical repertoire in Hebrew, arranged by him for mixed choir a cappella. Many of these pieces are published in Germany for the first time; almost all of them are first published as choral arrangements. The first volume contains ten sacred and paraliturgical songs that may be sung at various occasions. Among these are the feast of Passover, the “Ten Days of Repentance” in the month of Tishré and the Sabbath. The second volume contains ten secular songs that have become widely known in Israel during the 20th century. These songs are part of Israel’s cultural history and belong to its core repertoire. All Hebrew lyrics appear in transliteration underneath the music, translations in German and English and comprehensive annotation texts are located in the appendix. As founder and director of Vienna's Philharmonic Chorus he led world premieres and first performances of works by contemporary composers. It is surprising, therefore, that Schreker wrote relatively few independent choral works; only three of these works [with various scorings] were published in his lifetime.
