Fingerpicking Guitar in the Dropped D Tuning. I became aware of the Dropped D tuning in 1960. It literally exploded my playing. Just by lowering the sixth string down a tone ? from E to D, my guitar sounded so much fuller. The tuning seemed to open up the fingerboard whether playing in the Keys of D, G or A. An alternating bass sounded huge and dynamic. Over the last 60 years I, as well as guitar playing friends, have explored playing in Dropped D. From folk and gospel to blues and early jazz to Celtic melodies and O?Carolan compositions to original instrumental compositions. This collection covers a lot of musical terrain. There?s plenty of musical notes, styles, techniques in these pages. Travel slowly and try to absorb the arrangements one by one. The constant throughout is the Dropped D tuning. Includes access to online audio,

All you need to know are basic chord fingerings for A, C, D, E, F and G. Transcriptions from Buckley's Banjo Guide of 1868. Par TWISS TIM. Early American...(+)
Transcriptions from Buckley's Banjo Guide of 1868. Par TWISS TIM. Early American Banjo by Tim Twiss provides complete banjo tablature transcriptions of the instrumental solos that first appeared in standard notation in Buckley's Banjo Guide of 1868. This modern tablature edition of over 100 mid-19th century jigs, waltzes, polkas, hornpipes and reels provides insight to the transition between the African down-stroke technique, which preceded claw-hammer style and the newer, more refined plucking technique. James Buckley (1803 â' 1872), sometimes referred to as the 'Father of the Classical Banjo,â? was one of the most prolific transcribers of early banjo music. His compositions and arrangements were performed on the minstrel stage, andhis scholarly discipline produced a lasting record of banjo music of his era. This repertoire collection includes easy tunes as well as more complex pieces suited for the concert stage. The player will delight in discovering how fresh and unusual some of this music sounds, even todayâ'all in modern banjo tab. While best experienced on a period reproduction, gut-string fretless banjo in a lower tuning, any 5-string banjo in C tuning (gCGBD) may be used to interpret this collection. Banjo: Instrumental Tutor Banjo [Sheet music + CD] Hal Leonard
Tools Techniques & Recipes for Playing Clawhammer Banjo-Whether you're explaini...(+)
Tools Techniques & Recipes for Playing Clawhammer Banjo-Whether you're explaining how to cook food or make great music there are two approaches that can be taken to writing a cookbook. One way is to give the reader a bunch of recipes and explain 'here's how to make the dish'. Another way is to teach them how to cook by sharing with them techniques for mixing flavors and the knowledge of when where and how to apply heat. With ideas on how to add your own touches it is easy to make the dish or the tune your own. The Clawhammer Cookbook takes the second of these paths. Michael Bremer doesn't tell the reader how to play the songs he teaches ways to approach arrange and personalise any tune helping them to develop their own unique style. The Clawhammer Cookbook features old-time music as well as pieces in a few other musical styles. This book comes complete with a CD containing demos of all the songs and examples to aid in the learning process.
