Showdown for Band (Confrontation pour Orchestre) a été spécialement composé pour figurer en tant qu’oeuvre imposée lors de la troisième édition du Concours International de Musique Légère de Saint-Gall (Suisse) en 1998. L’intention du compositeur était de créer une pièce de musique légère qui soit stimulante sur le plan technique pour les différents orchestres en compétition, en particulier sur le plan rythmique. La pièce est divisée en quatre mouvements : Opening, Ballad, Finale et Ending. Les mélodies très plaisantes et l’instrumentation variée révèlent toutes les facettes de l’orchestre dans son ensemble. Le solo dans la partie centralepeut être joué par un saxophone soprano ou alto, ou encore par un bugle. A great hit was the up-tempo number I’m So Excited, which is still a success on every dance floor.
