The French composer and bassoonist François René Gebauer (1773-1845) and his three brothers was closely tied to the history of French military music and the beginnings of the Conservatoire de Musique. As was customary at that time, the woodwind players also had complete command over other woodwind instruments, and therefore it comes as no surprise that Gebauer wrote a flute method- perhaps for his younger brother- which was soon followed by duos as well. 60 Methodical Lessons, first published in 1798, are entirely in the tradition of the French methods (Devienne, Hugot, etc.). Gebauer chose the form of duet and formulated headings for each exercise which make his idea of methodical steps clear: After elementary exercises in the beginning, the second half focusses on the development of the playing skills and an increasing understanding of music. The exercises cover a wide range from sound exercises via articulation and rhythm exercises to ornaments. A varied addition to the beginner's repertoire.

Louis Drouet (1792-1873) much admired virtuoso Flautist composer musical director and opera director was 'a Flautist of truly European standing and sphere of influence'. His method still forms part of today's standard teaching repertoire. The 'Little Sonatas' published here for the first time as a separate new edition constitute the final part of Part 3 of his method. In accordance with the remarks of Drouet who had two different performance versions in mind the sonatas are available in two instrumentations: for two Flutes and for Flute and Piano. The Piano accompaniment with its figured bass realized by GottfriedBach has been turned into a harmonic accompaniment.

How to shape a melodic line-Musical interpretation is first and foremost a question of shaping a melody or the melodic line of a setting. Music like any language follows its own set of rules and a sufficient knowledge and familiarity with musical ‘grammar’ is therefore an essential prerequisite of any convincing interpretation.The internationally renowned performer and teacher Peter-Lukas Graf explains in great detail the parameters that have to be taken into account for a successful interpretation: rhythm metre agogics articulation phrasing ornamentation and implied polyphony etc. Numerous examples from the flute repertoire of the 17th–20th century serve as models fromwhich he derives the ‘rules’ appropriate for an interpretation in keeping with each period. – These rules are not intended to be dogmatic but instead should stimulate the players to form their own opinion.

He was one of the best known authors in Finland and his works were translated into 30 languages. 1908 in Helsinki, ? 26. August 1979 also in This is the story of the adventures of the doctor SinuheCrete and other regions of the known world at that time. who lived from 1390 to1335 B.C. who was initially the personal physician at the court of the Pharaoh Akhenaten before subsequently visiting Babylon, Waltari was inspired by the Ancient Egyptian text The Story of Sinuhe which is considered to be one of the earliest literary works (20th century B.C.). The author additionally undertook comprehensive historical studies, and the novel with its extensive cultural history and customs of the Orient in pre-Christian times became a worldwide success. The novel also gained recognition among Egyptologists. Sinuhe the Egyptian was in turn an inspiration for the composer Olli Mustonen to create a work for the 'archaic? instrument the oboe. The original version of this two-movement piece additionally fulfilled the composer's wish to dedicate a composition to his wife Sole who is also an oboist.The current version for flute was written for the Danish flutist Janne Thomsen. / Flûte
