Morag Galloway's Dream of You for three voices (SSA). Duration: 2 minutes Composed: 2004 Also published as part of UYMP's Songspin Songbook ISMN M 57036 603 3. Dream of You sets Morag's own poem and was commissioned by Juice for performance in a late night concert 'the witching hour' in York Spring Festival May 2004. The poem describes a dream in which a single night with someone is remembered. The compositional aim was to set the words as they came without repetition and not to repeat any musical material either. This was to try to recreate the strange familiarity of this dream and attemptto let it unfold in ‘real time’; to be as fleeting as the original night itself.

The Same Flame was inspired by Pierre de Coubertin?s ideals of Olympism which gave rise to the modern Olympic and Paralympic values: Respect Excellence Friendship Courage Equality Determination and Inspiration. These seven values are celebrated in five movements so four of them had to double up ? Friendship with Equality and Courage with Determination. Each movement is scored for slightly different choral forces so the work is varied. Also individual movements may suit different choirs giving the opportunity for individual performance or collaboration between choirs. All fivemovements of The Same Flame are published as individual octavos. A complete vocal score is available on request from the publishers.A slower and more poignant movement Respectfully Yours takes the form of a letter from those who have long been disenfranchised and excluded ? they could be one of a number of groups! ? and who though now welcomed into the fold cannot take acceptance for granted. The memory of rejection is raw and recent. With polite reserve underwritten by passion they respectfully reaffirm their claim to be ?of the same flame?.

Hero is the inspirational classic hit originally sung by Mariah Carey and more recently made famous by the X-Factor finalists' cover version. This uplifting song is arranged here for SSA choir with Piano accompaniment. One of the biggest-selling singles ever the song was originally written for Gloria Estefan to sing in the film Hero. Mariah Carey felt a disconnect between her own life and the lyrical content until she was convinced to sing the song and she amended parts of it herself to make it more personal turning it into the inspiring ballad it is today. The song has been re-recordedtwice with innumerable cover versions and its message even providing comfort to Barack Obama during the 2009 elections. Isabelle ABOULKER, pianiste et compositrice française reconnue concentre à partir de 1981 son activité créatrice autour de la voix et de ,l'opéra. Attentive à la prosodie, exigeante dans le choix de ses livrets, elle se veut héritière de la tradition française : Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc. Le nom d'Isabelle Aboulker est également indissociable d'opéras pour enfants. De ' Moi, Ulysse ' (1982, commande de Jean-Claude Malgoire pour l'Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing) à ' Jérémy Fisher ' (2007, commande du Quatuor Debussy et de l'Opéra de Lyon) elle a composé de nombreuses oeuvres destinées au jeune public.
