Carnival dépeint une procession festive qui démarre sur la place du marché et se poursuit jusqu’à la nuit. Avec ses nombreux éléments carnavalesques, la pièce est une joie pour les interprètes. La musique communique des activités joyeuses – des gens bavardant gaiement dans l’auberge, d’autres qui chantent, qui dansent et s’amusent. Cette ambiance se calme pour faire place à un climat mélancolique évoquant d’éternels adieux et la recherche de l’amour.
