Par SUZUKI SHINICHI. The first classical Organ method for children, the Suzuki Organ School is based on Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's Mother Tongue Method. The Suzuki Method® of Talent Education is based on Suzuki's view that every child is born with ability, and that people are the product of their environment. According to Suzuki, a world-renowned violinist and teacher, the greatest joy an adult can know comes from developing a child's potential so he/she can express all that is harmonious and best in human beings. Each series of books for a particular instrument in the Suzuki Method is considered a Suzuki music school, such as the Suzuki Organ School . The student listens to the recordings and work with their Suzuki organ teacher to develop their potential as a musician and as a person. This Suzuki Book and CD is essential for Suzuki Organ lessons. In certain pieces, the authors have placed small phonetic signs above the notes to indicate differentiated non legato playing. In order to develop pedal technique, pedal melodies are included between every manual piece. The included performance CD for Volume 1 is a great tool for Suzuki Organ lessons, encouraging practice while featuring recordings by Lars Hagström. Freie Orgelwerke - BuxWV 136-161. Par BUXTEHUDE DIETERICH. This edition is the result of Harald Vogel?s many years of practice as an organist and musicologist. The music text is based on a reevaluation of 17 th - and 18 th -century manuscripts containing the free organ and keyboard works by Buxtehude. They originated during a transitional phase between the traditional letter tablature and the staff notation still in use today. Since many works have survived only in transcriptions for staff notation, the editor was confronted with a high error rate, which he carefully analyzes in the ?Einzelanmerkungen?. During the preparation of the edition, the editor always kept sight of the performance practice, but still, the image of the sources is never distorted (e. g. by superfluous rests, beaming not conforming to the sources and the unhistorical adjustment of time signatures) and stays very close to the compositional notation, the letter tablature. The flexible use of three staves and the differentiated distribution of the voices on the staves allow for an approximation in reading conventions of historical notation with its resulting information about hand division. Grouping the free organ repertoire into works with obbligato pedal and works for manuals, this edition is organized in two volumes. The first subvolume (I/1, EB 9304) contains the Preface and the Preludes, whereas the second subvolume (I/2, EB 9305) contains Toccatas, Ostinato works, alternative versions and a comprehensive Critical Commentary (in German only). Volume II (EB 9306) contains Buxtehude?s free organ and keyboard works (manualiter) with the corresponding texts (Preface and Critical Commentary). Until 1971, Harald Vogel worked on a dissertation (with Georg von Dadelsen, Hamburg) on ?Die Fuge um Bach?. Besides the description of the ?inclusion? of triple measures into the C notation and the irregularities of the ?voice mutation? in the polyphonic structures, this also included a discussion about the justification of the ?inner textual criticism?. With the inner textual criticism, deviations in parallel passages are unified. The North German fugue style, reaching a peak in Buxtehude?s work, is characterized by a constant diversity of details in subject and polyphonic progressions. One of the ?indicators of the fantastic style? is the dissolution of the polyphonic structures at the ends of the fugues, evident in Buxtehude?s work. In this edition, a musical text is presented that avoids the uniformity of detail not conforming to the sources. However, there are many examples of transcription and cursory errors, which are analyzed in a methodical systematic manner. About the editor: As an organist, professor, organ expert, and scholar, Harald Vogel has rendered outstanding services to the interpretation of early music and especially to historical performance practice concerning the organ for decades. He has received numerous awards, including an ECHO Klassik as Instrumentalist of the Year (2012), honorary doctorates from Luleå University of Technology (Sweden, 2008) and Oberlin College (USA, 2014), as well as the Buxtehude Prize of the City of Lübeck (2018). Harald Vogel is the author and editor of numerous scholarly publications and editions. Through his lifelong performance practice, he can look back on an extensive discography, including the complete recording of Buxtehude?s organ works, which he recorded in various locations with historical organ instruments of the North German organ building tradition in Scandinavia, North Germany and the Netherlands. / Date parution : 2022-10-12/ Recueil / Orgue

Although living and composing at a time when the music of Webern and Schönberg had long since abandoned the traditional paths of music, Camillo Schumann pursues in an astonishingly consistent manner in the tradition of the great Romantics, in particular that of Brahms and Mendelssohn. Par CABANILLES JUAN BAUTISTA. Joan Cabanilles was cathedral organist in Valencia...(+)
Par CABANILLES JUAN BAUTISTA. Joan Cabanilles was cathedral organist in Valencia and the towering figure in Spanish organ music of the late 17th century. His brilliant and diverse musical language, rooted in the traditional sounds of Spain, has not managed to reach a large audience outside the Iberian peninsula, although he is often called 'a musician of European stature”.
The aim of this three-volume Urtext edition is to grant access to his most appealing works. To this end, all available sources in the libraries of Astorga, Barcelona, San Lorenzo de el Escoreal, Felanitx/Mallorca, Jaca and Montserrat have been examined and newly evaluated.
If Cabanilles's oeuvre consists primarily of tientos, organ hymns and versets, the third and final volume contains three versos, three pasacalles, two galliards, two toccatas and such special forms as Paseos de tercer tono, Diferencias de Folías and a Jácara.
„This is an excellent resource for organists interested in exploring this satisfying repertoire.'

Easy liturgical organ music in an accessible modern style is always welcome, and Nigel Ogden, well-known contributor to Stainer & Bell’s ‘Light Organ’ series and host of ‘the Organist Entertains’ on BBC Radio 2, has composed fifteen new pieces for use within the communion service or other acts of worship. They are suitable both for traditional and electronic keyboard instruments, and may be performed on single or multi-manuals, with the bass played optionally on pedals as desired. There are fanfares and festal voluntaries to accompany the dramatic high-points of the liturgy, as well as tranquil melodies for reposeful moments of meditation and private devotion, pluspreludes on familiar hymns to collect the thoughts of the whole congregation. Flexibility is the watchword of At Your Service, which offers a really practical contribution to the repertoire of useful music for church organists./ Recueil / Orgue

Modern and Contemporary Music. Par . Now finally in English too: The third part of the organ method Historical Performance Practice in Organ Playing follows on from part two with contributions by Guy Bovet (on Jehan Alain), Hans-Ola Ericsson, Anders Ekenberg, Markus Rupprecht (Olivier Messiaen), Hans Fagius (Maurice Duruflé), Jeremy Filsell (Marcel Dupré), Bernhard Haas (Arnold Schönberg, Ernst Krenek, John Cage, György Ligeti, and others, plus the latest developments) and Armin Schoof (neoclassicism). As in the first two parts of the organ method, here too a representative selection of composers is discussed. Alongside mainly personal recollections (e.g. from Hans Fagius) there are analytical essays (including by Jeremy Filsell). Bernhard Haas has organised one section of his text as an introduction to the playing techniques and aesthetics of new music, beginning with pieces which are easy to play. This English edition contains new chapters by Kevin Bowyer (The Development of New Organ Music in Britain / Contemporary Organ Music in North America). Laukvik?s organ method Historical Performance Practice in Organ Playing has now become established as a standard work. It is aimed at organists who want to incorporate the latest thinking on historical performance practice into their interpretations of works. The three volumes provide a practical introduction in a detailed, scholarly and comprehensible form, by giving organists as precise a picture of the interpretative traditions and aims of previous and modern/ contemporary eras as possible. The editions are aimed not only at organists, but also at organ teachers who are looking for a manual to use in their teaching. / Date parution : 2022-05-03/ Recueil / Orgue

Par GLADSTONE FRANCIS EDWARD. The organ sonatas of Francis Edward Gladstone (1845-1928) are fine examples of the developing English sonata tradition of the late-nineteenth century and early twentieth century. They exemplify a practical approach to the instrument with consistently moderate technical demands while also allowing the player scope for interpretation with the increasing availability of instruments that were conceived with a symphonic tonal palette in mind. As discussed in The Genesis and Development of an English Organ Sonata (2017), the English sonatas had an important pedagogical role jointly inherited from Mendelssohn?s very practical and popular approach to the instrument and the continued European legacy of the lesson-sonata tradition whereby in learning a piece you also learned the instrument and vice versa. / Date parution : 2022-05-31/ Recueil / Orgue

Organ Chorales From The Neumeister Collection Yale University Manuscript 'Lm 4708'. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. In 1985 Christoph Wolff, working at Yale University, discovered a collection of 82 chorales compiled by Johann Gottfried Neumeister (1756-1840) which contained 38 compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach. They reveal great stylistic variety whose forebears stem from the Northern German organ tradition.
Already these early works comprising fantasias, fugues, fughettas and imitative techniques employing motifs from chorale melodies bear witness to Bach'
s broad compositional spectrum.
This newly published volume is an updated edition of Series IV/9 of the '
New Bach Edition” (NBA), edited by Christoph Wolff and based on this source.
In addition to a newly added concordance and corrections to the musical text, it also contains a detailed Foreword by Christoph Wolff with further information on the Neumeister Collection and hymnological details. The source of the complete Neumeister Collection has recently been made available on '
Bach digital”, shedding light on the manuscript for the very first time.
Links to major sources have been provided in collaboration with the Bach Leipzig Archive and its database '

Bach: Complete Organ Works Vol. 1
Preludes and Fugues I - with CD-ROM - ed. by David Schulenberg
As close as possible to Bach
In his ?Preludes and Fugues,? Johann Sebastian Bach made decisive contributions to the development of this genre tradition. The importance of this work group in his own organ oeuvre is confirmed by the many transmitted sources: hardly any autographs, but all the more copies. The genesis of the works and the question of versions associated with it are described at length in the introduction. In his new edition, editor David Schulenberg occasionally makes a new evaluation of the transmitted sources. To do so, he based himself as faithfully as possible on the manuscripts that can be traced back to Bach or to his circle. Here the American Bach expert generally chooses one source as his principal one. Divergences from other sources are documented in the Commentary. On the whole, the new Urtext edition sometimes also emends some long-cherished readings of ornaments, voice leading and notation. Also printed in Volume 1 is, for example, the early version of the C major Prelude BWV 545 as well as the inserted Trio movement of the three-movement version of this work. As with the previously published volumes, the CD-ROM enclosed in Volumes 1 and 2 contains dubious works and secondary versions for comparison with the principal versions. This time, the CD-ROMs are completely in German and English and feature the English version of the Commentary.

Symphonic Observations About Albrecht Dürer'S Apocalypse. Par MAINTZ PHILIPP. The doomsday visions of Albrecht Dürer's woodcut series 'Apocalypse with Pictures” have inspired many composers to create musical representations of the pictured events. With 'septimus angelus', Philipp Maintz follows in this tradition. However he abandons the pattern of a primarily pictorial reinterpretation of these artworks, concentrating instead on the wealth of their structural mysteries.
In the Foreword of the score, organist Bernhard Buttmann writes: 'Both the organist and the audience are seen as subjects of the musical happening and become its focal point. Just as Dürer's richness of detail will only reveal itself after lengthy, meditative observation, Philipp Maintz' 'septimus angelus” requires an unbiased, open-minded, and perpetually fresh listening process that should correspond to a colorful interpretation with an openness to new sound experiments. The performer faces the challenging task of incorporating a wealth of precious details into the musical development as a whole, while offering ever-changing ways of musical illumination from multiple perspectives.” / Date parution : 2019-08-30/ Répertoire / Orgue

3 Chorale Fantasias, Chorale Variation, 6 Hymn Settings.

Orgue
